Park Cho-a (born March 6, 1990), known mononymously as Choa (stylized as ChoA), is a South Korean singer. She is best known as a former member of the girl group AOA.
Choa was born on March 6, 1990, in Incheon, South Korea. [1] She wanted to major in music at university but her conservative father wanted her to get a traditional job, so she enrolled in Aviation Business Administration in Inha Technical College. She also worked as an IPTV salesperson, where she secretly auditioned to be an idol, failing the audition at SM Entertainment 15 times. [2] [3]
Choa's first step in becoming an idol was when she met singer-songwriter Juniel, who told her about FNC's auditions for their girl group, AOA. Both Juniel and Choa were previously trainees at a company that went bankrupt. [4] [5] [6]
On July 30, 2012, Choa made her debut as a member of AOA on Mnet's M Countdown with the song "Elvis" from their debut single album, Angels' Story . [7]
On June 12, 2013, it was announced that Choa would play the female lead, Gabriella, in the musical High School Musical . Her agency, FNC Entertainment, revealed photos of Choa practising the duet song, "Start of Something New". Choa said that she wanted to portray Gabriella as sincerely as she could. The musical ran from July 2 to September 1 at Seoul's Blue Square Samsung Card Hall. [8]
On March 16, 2014, Choa released a solo OST for TV Chosun's TV series Bride of the Century . [9]
Choa appeared as a new cast member on MBC's variety show "My Little Television". [10] She later left the show on May 19, 2015. [11]
Choa also became a new model for sports brand NBA's 2015 S/S, the first few pictures released were colourful and sporty. [12]
On March 25, 2015, it was revealed that Choa would be one of the members on the studio panel for MBC's We Got Married , replacing Hong Jin-young. [13] [14]
On June 6, 2015, she became an advertising model for Alba Heaven, a website to help people find part-time jobs. She appeared alongside Yoo Byung-jae in a commercial for the website that month. [15]
On July 22, 2015, it was revealed that Choa would collaborate with Primary and Iron for Primary's new single 2-3's song "Don't Be Shy". [16] The song and the full music video starring Choa was released on July 24, 2015. [17]
A teaser trailer for Choa's solo debut, "Flame", was released on December 14, 2015. "Flame" is a cover of a song by Jang Hye-jin featuring Gary, with Gary's rap reworked into a section for Choa to sing. [18] [19] The song was later released on December 17, 2015. [20]
In October 2016, Choa was confirmed to be the MC of JTBC new variety show Sing For You, scheduled for December 3, 2016. [21]
On June 22, 2017, Choa announced that she would be leaving AOA due to depression and insomnia. She stated that she had tried using medication to help, however, there was no improvement in her mental health. [22] This followed after Choa had a hiatus from the group following their activities from January 2017 when they released their first studio album Angel's Knock . Her departure from AOA was officially confirmed by FNC Entertainment on June 30, 2017. [23] In May 2019, her contract with FNC expired and was not renewed. [24]
After a three-year hiatus from the entertainment industry, it was announced on August 6, 2020, that Choa had recorded a new song for the soundtrack of the KBS2 drama Men Are Men . [25] Officials confirmed her participation after viewers heard the song on the August 3 broadcast of the show, and speculated that the singer sounded similar to Choa. [26] According to an entertainment industry official on August 21, 2020, Choa has moved to Great M Entertainment, a new agency founded by Kim Young-sun, who was a founding member and managing director of FNC Entertainment. In March 2022, it was announced that Choa was preparing to release a single titled "Yesterday" on April 9, 2022. [28] On July 2022, Choa was announced as a main host of the "Your Literacy+". [29]
On 28 November 2023, Choa was announced as one of the cast members of "Diva Sisters", which is a variety show featuring five singers who get together to talk candidly about the entertainment industry and their careers. Other cast members include Chae Ri-na, Lee Ji-hye, Ivy, and Narsha. [30]

Park Jung-hyun, also known as Lena Park, is an American-born South Korean singer who debuted in 1998 with the album, Piece. She is also widely known in South Korea as her nickname "national fairy" due to her petite body and powerful singing voice.
Lim Jeong-hee, also known as J-Lim, is a South Korean singer who debuted in 2005 under JYP Entertainment. One of her notable performances in 2005 was the 5th Pattaya Music Festival in Thailand, which helped promote and expose her to the foreign music industry. She was signed under Big Hit Music in 2012 and left the company in 2015, going on to join her current agency, Oscar ENT.

Shin Ji-min, better known mononymously as Jimin, is a South Korean rapper and singer. She is the former leader and main rapper of the girl group AOA and guitarist of the sub-unit AOA Black, which debuted under FNC Entertainment. In 2015, Jimin was a semi-finalist in the first season of Unpretty Rapstar. During the show, she released several successful collaboration singles, most notably "Good Start" and "Puss". Following allegations of bullying by former bandmate Kwon Mina, Jimin left the group and retired from the entertainment industry in July 2020. She returned to the entertainment industry in July 2022.
Jung Seung-hwan is a South Korean singer signed under Antenna. He is best known as the runner-up contestant in SBS' K-pop Star Season 4. He is best known for his cover performance of Kim Johan's "I Want to Fall in Love " on K-pop Star 4 and dominated the Melon Charts for weeks. Before he made his debut, he became popular with his hit OST "If It Was You (너였다면)". Throughout his career, he has released several OSTs that have charted. He made his debut in November 2016 with the EP His Voice and later released his full studio album Spring Again, in February 2018. In April 2019, he released his second EP Dear, My Universe. In May 2021, he released his third EP Five Words Left Unsaid.
Kim Eun-young, known by her stage name Cheetah (치타), is a South Korean rapper. Cheetah rose to fame as the winner on the TV competition Unpretty Rapstar. She debuted in 2010 with the song "Stop " as a part of the duo Blacklist and was signed under C9 Entertainment. In April 2020, she left C9 Entertainment, which she belonged to from her debut, and founded the one-person agency, Ceuda Entertainment.

I.O.I was a South Korean girl group formed by CJ E&M through the 2016 reality show Produce 101 on Mnet. The group was composed of eleven members chosen from a pool of 101 trainees from various entertainment companies: Jeon So-mi, Kim Se-jeong, Choi Yoo-jung, Kim Chung-ha, Kim So-hye, Zhou Jieqiong, Jung Chae-yeon, Kim Do-yeon, Kang Mi-na, Lim Na-young, and Yoo Yeon-jung. Kim Na-young is a South Korean singer and actress who gained immense popularity through social media exposure on New Year's Eve 2015, when her single "What If It Was Going" topped Melon's music charts, holding the top place for five days, and high spots on other streaming sites. Bolbbalgan4, also known as BOL4 or Blushing Youth, is a South Korean musical act formed by Shofar Music in 2016. They appeared on Superstar K6 in 2014 before signing a contract with their current agency. BOL4 was originally a duo consisting of Ahn Ji-young and Woo Ji-yoon. They debuted with the single "Fight Day" from the mini-album Red Ickle on April 22, 2016. The first syllable of the Korean word sachungi "puberty" is pronounced the same as the Sino-Korean numeral four, and accordingly the group name is sometimes shortened to BOL4.
Yoon Ji-sung is a South Korean singer and actor. He is best known for finishing eighth in the second series of Produce 101 and is the former leader of South Korean boy group Wanna One. Following Wanna One's disbandment, Yoon established his career as a solo artist with the release of his first extended play Aside on February 20, 2019.
Sunwoo Jung-a, known mononymously as Sunwoojunga, is a South Korean musician, singer-songwriter, and record producer who has worked with numerous Korean artists including IU, Suran, GD & TOP, 2NE1, Lee Haeri, Lee Hi, and San E. She released her debut album, Masstige, on May 10, 2006.
Cherry Bullet was a South Korean girl group formed and managed by FNC Entertainment. They debuted on January 21, 2019, with their first single album titled Let's Play Cherry Bullet. The group's final lineup was composed of seven members: Haeyoon, Yuju, Bora, Jiwon, Remi, Chaerin, and May. Originally consisting of ten members, Mirae, Kokoro, and Linlin left the group in December 2019. They disbanded on April 22, 2024 after four out of the seven members terminated their contracts with FNC Entertainment.
