The Party of the Future (Dutch: Partij van de Toekomst, PvdT) was a political party of the Netherlands. [2] Although the party never came close to obtaining a seat in the House of Representatives, it received wide media attraction due to its leader, media personality Johan Vlemmix, as well as its frequent publicity stunts. History

Dutch entrepreneur Johan Vlemmix founded his own political party in 2002. In February 2003, fellow media personality Emile Ratelband and Vlemmix attracted media attention in the Netherlands with wanting to hand over a peace flag to both Mick Jagger and Sadam Hussein at the same moment. [4]

Before the 2002 Dutch general election, Vlemmix was approached by Pim Fortuyn, who had wanted to take the name Party of the Future. [5] Vlemmix refused to give him this name, which led to Fortuyn taking part as Lijst Pim Fortuyn. [6]

Vlemmix continued to campaign under the party banner throughout its existence, including in municipality elections in Eindhoven in 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2018. [7] In 2014 his platform included changes to drug policy and women's right to go topless. [8] [9]

Dissolution of Vlemmix's PvdT

In 2020, politician Henk Krol prepared to establish his own Party for the Future (PvdT), but he discovered that the abbreviation PvdT had already been claimed by Vlemmix's party. Vlemmix granted the abbreviation to Krol and supported him in his decision to establish his own party. [10] Vlemmix also granted the domain name to Krol. [11]

Nevertheless, Vlemmix stated he would participate in the 2021 general election with a new party, The PartyParty (DE FEESTPARTIJ, DFP).

The Party for Neighbourly Love, Freedom, and Diversity, alternatively the Charity, Freedom, and Diversity Party, was a political party in the Netherlands. It existed without parliamentary representation and had only three known members as of 2006. The PNVD was commonly referred to as the "pedo party" by media outlets, due to its advocacy for the legalization of child pornography and the lowering of the age of consent. The party was originally founded on 31 May 2006 by three self-described pedophiles. Its motto was sapere aude, or "dare to know". Starting with the 2006 general election, the PNVD failed to contest electorally as it was unable to collect the 30 signatures from each of the 19 Dutch electoral regions it required to get on the ballot. On 14 March 2010, the party was dissolved.

Early general elections are scheduled to be held in the Netherlands on 22 November 2023 to elect the members of the House of Representatives. The election had been expected to be held in 2025, but a snap election was called after the fourth Rutte cabinet collapsed on 7 July 2023 due to disagreements on immigration policy. Incumbent Prime Minister Mark Rutte has announced that he will not lead his party into the election and that he will be retiring from politics.

The Henk Krol List is a political party in the Netherlands named after its founder and leader Henk Krol, who had previously led both 50PLUS (50+) and the Party for the Future (PvdT). It had a seat in the House of Representatives as the Member Krol. The party participated in the 2021 Dutch general election on 17 March 2021, but did not win any seats.
