"Pass Me By" received positive reviews from critics. Musichel described the song as an "infectious acoustic pop track". [1] J-14 called the song "catchy" and "fun". [2] Praise for the music video includes a statement by Popstar Online. They commented that the video's cinematography was "stunning". [3]
On August 26, 2013, "Pass Me By" was performed in Canadian TV show The Morning Show . [4] They also performed and were interviewed on Good Morning America . [5] The song was performed on Disney Channel's summer special Disney's Aulani Resort in Hawaii, in November 16. [6] On January 20, 2014 the band performed an acoustic version in web show On the Charts, in ClevverTV. [7]
The official music video was released shortly after the single on August 29, 2013. Directed by Ryan Pallota and shot in the creeks, lakes and mountaintops of Malibu, the new video depicts the band – siblings Riker, Rydel, Rocky and Ross Lynch, along with drummer and friend Ellington Ratliff – rocking "Pass Me By" while frolicking in canyon waterfalls and pools. As twilight fades and the stars come out, the band each find a touch of romance. [8] Also included are shots of the band playing their instruments on a field while goofing around and having fun. Another scene includes the band with their supposed love interests as they sing and gather around a campfire. [9]

R5 was an American pop rock band formed in Los Angeles in 2009. The band consisted of Ross Lynch, Riker Lynch, Rocky Lynch, Rydel Lynch (keyboards/vocals), and Ellington Ratliff (drums/vocals). They released their first EP Ready Set Rock on March 9, 2010, but it was removed once Ross got his role on the Disney Channel show Austin and Ally. They then released the EP Loud on February 19, 2013. Since releasing their debut album, Louder, on September 24, 2013, which peaked at 24 on the Billboard 200, followed by their world tour. Their second album, Sometime Last Night, was released on July 10, 2015, and debuted at 6 on the US Billboard 200, and reached the top 20 in five other countries. They have also released five EPs, eleven singles, and a documentary. In 2018, the band ended and Ross and Rocky formed the duo The Driver Era.
