New Addictions is the fourth and final EP by American pop rock band R5. It was released on May 12, 2017 through Hollywood Records. [1]

Background

The band announced the release of the EP on April 5, 2017 via Twitter along a two-date pre-release show on April 27, 2017 at Los Angeles and May 11, 2017 on New York City respectively. [2] [3] The album was almost entirely produced by band member Rocky Lynch. [4]

Promotion

The band announced the New Addictions Tour to promote the EP, with the first leg set to start on June 24, 2017 in Denver, Colorado. [5] The same day the EP was released, a music video for the song "If", directed by Michel Borden, was released via Vevo. [6] It was filmed in San Diego and inspired by the films Risky Business , Pulp Fiction , Boogie Nights , Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and Goodfellas . [5]

Reception

Rolling Stone called the EP "full of sharply constructed pop confections that ride galloping basslines." [7]

R5 was an American pop rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 2009. The band consisted of Ross Lynch, Riker Lynch, Rocky Lynch, Rydel Lynch (keyboard/vocals), and Ellington Ratliff (drums/vocals). They released their first EP Ready Set Rock March 9th, 2010, but it was removed once Ross got his role on the Disney Channel Show Austin and Ally. They then released the EP Loud on February 19th, 2013 Since releasing their debut album, Louder, on September 24, 2013, which peaked at 24 on the Billboard 200, followed by their world tour. Their second album, Sometime Last Night, was released on July 10, 2015, and debuted at 6 on the US Billboard 200, and reached the top 20 in five other countries. MKTO American musical duo

The discography of R5, an American pop rock band, consists of two studio albums, five extended plays, thirteen singles, two promotional singles, twenty-two music videos and other album appearances. In March 2010, they self-released an EP, Ready Set Rock and in September they signed with Hollywood Records. The second EP, Loud, was released on February 19, 2013, which featured the lead single and title track "Loud", the debut single from upcoming album. The band's first full-length album, Louder, was released on September 24, 2013 and the album not only includes the four songs from Loud and also seven new songs. The second single from the album, "Pass Me By", premiered on Radio Disney on August 16. The music video premiered on 29 August on Disney Channel and is available for public viewing on the band's Vevo channel. The third single, "(I Can't) Forget About You", was released on December 25, 2013 and reached number 47 on Billboard Digital Pop Songs, and the fourth single "One Last Dance" on May 29, 2014.

MisterWives is an American indie pop band based in New York City, consisting of lead singer Mandy Lee, percussionist Etienne Bowler, bass guitarist William Hehir, guitarist Marc Campbell, multi-instrumentalist Jesse Blum, and saxophonist Mike Murphy. MisterWives have opened for acts such as Panic! at the Disco, Twenty One Pilots, Half Moon Run, Bleachers, The Mowgli's, Walk the Moon, Foster the People, Paramore, American Authors, and X Ambassadors. The band is currently signed to Fueled By Ramen. The band's debut album Our Own House was released in January 2015, and subsequently met with critical acclaim.

"Hey Boy" is a song by Australian singer-songwriter Sia released on 19 November 2020, through Atlantic Records. It is taken from her upcoming album, Music – Songs from and Inspired by the Motion Picture and it follows "Together" and "Courage to Change" as the third single from the album. An alternate version of the track featuring Burna Boy was released on 14 January 2021.
