Paula Murrihy is an Irish operatic mezzo-soprano who has made an international career. A member of the Oper Frankfurt, she has appeared also in Europe and the US, including the Metropolitan Opera and the Santa Fe Opera.
Born in Tralee, County Kerry, [1] Murrihy first studied at the Dublin Institute of Technology Conservatory of Music and Drama in Dublin, graduating with a Bachelor in Music. She studied further at the New England Conservatory. She took part in the Britten-Pears Young Artist Programme and the opera studio of the Santa Fe Opera. [2] She also studied on a scholarship of the San Francisco Opera in the Merola Opera Program. [3] She participated in Tanglewood in the 2003 Vocal Fellowship Program, appearing in the premiere of Osvaldo Golijov's opera Ainadamar , which she then also performed at Disney Hall with the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Murrihy joined the ensemble of the Oper Frankfurt in 2009, where she performed the title roles of Bizet's Carmen [3] and Der Rosenkavalier by Richard Strauss. [5] Other roles there have included Polissena in Handel's Radamisto , the Second Lady in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte and Blanche in Prokofiev's Der Spieler . [3] Title roles have included Purcell's Dido, Antonio Cesti's L'Orontea, Humperdinck's Hänsel, and Honegger's Judith. [3] She performed the role of Kreusa in the German premiere of Aribert Reimann's Medea in 2010, alongside Claudia Barainsky in the title role, recorded live. [6]
She made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City in 2017 as Stephano in Gounod's Roméo et Juliette [7] and appeared at the Santa Fe Opera as Prinz Orlowsky in Die Fledermaus and as Ruggiero in Handel's Alcina . She performed at the Konzerthaus Dortmund in a cycle of Mozart operas conducted by Teodor Currentzis, as Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro and as Dorabella in Così fan tutte . [3]
In concert, she has performed Lieder at the Aldeburgh Festival, the Wexford Festival and at New York's Carnegie Hall, among others. She performed Bach's St Matthew Passion with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, and Hindemith's orchestrated song cycle Das Marienleben with the Real Filharmonía de Galicia . [3] On 12 January 2012, she participated in the premiere of John Harbison's Symphony No. 6, a commission of the Boston Symphony Orchestra conducted by David Zinman. She took part in a 2017 recital with songs for voice, viola and piano in the Sendesaal of the Hessischer Rundfunk in Frankfurt, singing the two songs by Johannes Brahms and rarely performed works by Adolf Busch and Siegmund von Hausegger. Murrihy was awarded the Anny Schlemm Prize for young female singers in 2011. [3] [9]
Aribert Reimann was a German composer, pianist, and accompanist, known especially for his literary operas. His version of Shakespeare's King Lear, the opera Lear, was written at the suggestion of Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, who performed the title role. His opera Medea after Grillparzer's play premiered in 2010 at the Vienna State Opera. He was a professor of contemporary Lied in Hamburg and Berlin. In 2011, he was awarded the Ernst von Siemens Music Prize for his life's work.

Medea is a German-language opera by Aribert Reimann after the play by Franz Grillparzer. It was premiered at the Vienna State Opera in February 2010. The German premiere was at the Oper Frankfurt in August 2010.

Claudia Barainsky is a German operatic soprano. She has performed internationally, and won awards for her roles in contemporary operas such as Bernd Alois Zimmermann's Die Soldaten and Aribert Reimann's Medea.
Louise Alder is a British lyric soprano. She won the Dame Joan Sutherland Audience Prize at the 2017 BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition and the Young Singer award at the 2017 International Opera Awards. Her debut album of Strauss Lieder titled 'Through Life and Love' with pianist Joseph Middleton, was released in July 2017 with Orchid Classics.
Kateryna Kasper is a Ukrainian operatic soprano. A member of the Oper Frankfurt, she has appeared in major international opera houses. She has performed in recitals and recordings. Her broad repertory includes works from Cavalieri's Spiel von Seele und Körper to the premiere of Der goldene Drache by Péter Eötvös.
Erna Schlüter was a German operatic dramatic soprano and voice teacher. Beginning as a contralto at the Oldenburgisches Staatstheater in 1922, she moved to the Mannheim National Theatre in 1925 where her voice developed to dramatic soprano, to the Stadttheater Düsseldorf in 1930 where she appeared in 1933 in the world premiere of Winfried Zillig's Der Rossknecht and was awarded the title Kammersängerin. Her last station, from 1940, was the Hamburg State Opera.
Jennifer Holloway is an American operatic mezzo-soprano and soprano who has made an international career performing at leading opera houses and festivals. She began as a mezzo-soprano singing roles such as Adalgisa in Bellini's Norma, and moved to soprano roles such as Salome and Grete Graumann in Schreker's Der ferne Klang.

Heather Phillips is an American operatic coloratura soprano. She began her career at the Santa Fe Opera where she created there the role of Katie in Jennifer Higdon's Cold Mountain in 2015. She made her European debut at the Oper Frankfurt in 2022 in the title role of Rossini's Bianca e Falliero.
AJ Glueckert is an American operatic tenor, based in Germany at the Oper Frankfurt. He has performed leading roles there, and also at major opera houses internationally, such as Wagner's Erik at the Metropolitan Opera and Puccini's Pinkerton at the Santa Fe Opera.
