Pere Macias i Arau (born 14 June 1956) is a Catalan politician,former deputy to the Parliament of Catalonia and to the Parliament and senator.
Pere Macias is an Engineer of Channels and Ports and teacher at the Polytechnical University of Catalonia. He is a member of Democratic Convergence of Catalonia since the 1977. He was mayor of Olot from March 1984 until June 1996. He was vice-president of the Deputation of Girona from 1987 until 1994 and president since the October of the 1994 until June 1996. [1] From 1995 until July 1996 was president of the Catalan Association of Municipalities and Comarques.
In 1995,Macias was the head of list for the demarcation of Girona to the Elections to the Parliament of Catalonia,and was chosen deputy to the Parliament of Catalonia. He was appointed Councillor of Medium Ambient and House of the Generality of Catalonia,substituting for Albert Vilalta and González in the restructuring of the government that there was on 7 June 1996. He held this office until 30 July 1997,when he occupied the Council of Territorial Politics and Public Works substituting for Artur Mas. He held this office until 21 November 2001,when Felip Puig substituted.
In December 2001,he was appointed Secretary General Adjunct of the Federation of Convergence and Union and in January 2002 was appointed Secretary General Adjunct of Democratic Convergence of Catalonia. He was the Spokesperson of CiU to the Spanish Senate. [2]
In the 2008 Spanish general elections,he was the number two of the candidature of Convergence and Union to the Congress of Deputies for Barcelona,last of Josep Antoni Duran and Lleida. [3] He was chosen deputy again to the Spanish general elections of 2011. [4]
On 14 October 2015 he announced that he left the political office to work for renewal to the party.
In April 2016,he was appointed technical director of the project for the connection of the two tramways of Barcelona (Trambaix and Trambesòs) within the municipal government of Ada Colau,given his expertise and as a former promoter of the reintroduction of the tramway to the city.
In September 2018,JoséLuis Ábalos,then Minister of Transport,Mobility and Urban Agenda under the government of Pedro Sánchez appointed him coordinator of the Rodalies de Catalunya Plan,under the purview of ADIF. During his tenure,the double-tracking of the R3 line was initiated,and the construction works of La Sagrera station and the new railway branch to the El Prat airport resumed.
In November 2023,the Government of Catalonia appointed him appointed Commissioner for the Transfer of Rodalies,the commuter and regional rail system of Catalonia currently under operation by the Spanish government,with the task of leading the integral transfer of the railway to the Catalan Government,i.e. rolling stock (currently owned by Renfe Operadora),workers and railway infrastructure (currently owned by ADIF),in compliance with the 2023 investiture agreement between the then ruling Republican Left of Catalonia and the Spanish Socialists' Workers Party. He officially took office on January 5th,2024. In August 2024,after the 2024 Catalan government formation,his appointment was ratified by the Government of Salvador Illa.
The Generalitat de Catalunya,or the Government of Catalonia,is the institutional system by which Catalonia is self-governed as an autonomous community of Spain. It is made up of the Parliament of Catalonia,the President of the Government of Catalonia,and the Executive Council of Catalonia. Its current powers are set out in the Statute of Autonomy of Catalonia of 2006.
The Republican Left of Catalonia is a pro-Catalan independence,social democratic political party in the Spanish autonomous community of Catalonia,with a presence also in Valencia,the Balearic Islands and the French department of Pyrénées-Orientales. It is also the main sponsor of the independence movement from France and Spain in the territories known as Catalan Countries,focusing in recent years on the creation of a Catalan Republic in Catalonia proper. Josep Irla i Bosch was a Catalan businessman and politician. He was a deputy in the Parliament of Catalonia and the Spanish Congress in 1932,as an Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya affiliate. He was also the last President of Parliament of Catalonia at the end of Republican Catalan resistance in the Spanish Civil War,before Francisco Franco abolished the Generalitat of Catalonia. He was elected President of the Parliament of Catalonia on 1 October 1938. In office,Irla pushed for cooperation with the allies,Basque nationalists and other anti-Francoist groups,though excluding the communists. He became the President-in-exile of the Generalitat after Lluís Companys was executed. During his time as President-in-exile,he established a Government in exile,and appointed Josep Tarradellas as Conseller en Cap. He resigned as President in 1954.
Pere Esteve i Abad was a Catalan Spanish politician,belonging to the political organisation Catalunya 2003,who became Deputy of Trade,Tourism and Consumer Affairs at the Catalan regional Government proposed by the Republican Left of Catalonia (ERC) party,with which he ran to the autonomic elections of the 2003. He resigned in October 2004 for health reasons.

The R1 is a line of Rodalies de Catalunya's Barcelona commuter rail service,operated by Renfe Operadora. Since 2014,some services have been extended further north towards Portbou,near the French border. These services are designated RG1 and are considered part of the Girona commuter rail service. The line had an annual ridership of 28 million in 2016,achieving an average weekday ridership of 102,214 according to 2008 data.

It is a major north–south axis in the Barcelona metropolitan area,running from the southern limits of the province of Girona to the northern limits of the province of Tarragona,via Barcelona. North of Barcelona,the line uses the Barcelona–Cerbère railway,running inland through the Vallès Oriental region. South of Barcelona,it uses the conventional Madrid–Barcelona railway,running along the coast through the Garraf region. The R2 had an annual ridership of 33.6 million in 2016,achieving an average weekday ridership of 125,948 according to 2008 data,which makes it the busiest line of the Barcelona commuter rail service.
Rodalies de Catalunya is the main commuter and regional rail system in the Spanish autonomous community of Catalonia. It is administered by the Government of Catalonia and operated by the national rail operator Renfe Operadora. The system consists of 17 service lines chiefly centred in the Barcelona area,serving a total of 203 stations throughout Catalonia,with an average number of 1,000 trains running on it every day. In 2016,it had an annual ridership of 117 million.
Maçanet-Massanes is a Rodalies de Catalunya open triangular railway station serving Maçanet de la Selva and Massanes,in Catalonia,Spain. It is located at the junction where the railway coming from Barcelona via Mataróconverges with the Barcelona–Cerbère railway,lying about 5 and 1.9 kilometres away from the urban centers of Maçanet de la Selva and Massanes,respectively. On the Barcelona–Cerbère railway,the station is between Hostalric and Sils,and it is the northern terminus of the railway coming from Mataró.

Sant Adriàde Besòs and Estacióde Sant Adrià are a Rodalies de Catalunya commuter rail station and a Trambesòs tram stop,respectively,together forming an interchange station complex in Sant Adriàde Besòs,to the north-east of Barcelona,in Catalonia,Spain. The Rodalies de Catalunya station is on the Barcelona to Maçanet-Massanes via Matarórailway,between Barcelona El Clot-Aragóand Badalona. It is operated by Renfe Operadora and is served by Barcelona commuter rail service line R1 and Girona commuter rail service line RG1. The Trambesòs stop is the northern terminus of routes T4 and T6 and is operated by TRAM.
The Barcelona–Cerbère railway is a 168-kilometre (104.39 mi) railway line linking Barcelona in Catalonia,Spain to Cerbère in France. It is served by the Rodalies de Catalunya commuter network,Renfe regional,MD,AVE,Avlo and Avant train services,and TGV trains. The line stars at Barcelona Sants railway station,and passes through the Catalan regional cities of Girona and Figueres before reaching the French border,and then Cerbère,just across the border. It is an important commuter and High Speed line,connecting Paris,Montpellier and Perpinyàto Spain.
Granollers Centre is a Rodalies de Catalunya railway station serving Granollers in Catalonia,Spain. It is located on the Barcelona–Cerbère railway,just next to the Granollers main square.
The Statute of Autonomy of Catalonia of 1932,also called the Statute of Núria,was the first implemented statute of autonomy for Catalonia,officially providing self-government to Catalonia for the first time in more than 200 years. The Statute was promoted by the then acting President of the Generalitat,Francesc Maciàand approved in a referendum by 99% of Catalan voters. The draft Statute was completed on 20 June 1931 in Núria and finally approved in the Spanish Parliament on 9 September 1932. It was implemented until the occupation of Catalonia by the Nationalist Army during the last stages of the Spanish Civil War,in 1939.
The Catalan Republic was a state proclaimed in 1931 by Francesc Maciàas the "Catalan Republic within the Iberian Federation",in the context of the proclamation of the Second Spanish Republic. It was proclaimed on 14 April 1931,and superseded three days later,on 17 April,by the Generalitat de Catalunya,the Catalan institution of self-government within the Spanish Republic.

It runs northwards from the Barcelona area to the French border town of Cerbère,passing through the Vallès Oriental,Selva,Gironès and Alt Empordàregions. With a total line length of 172 kilometres (107 mi),it extends notably beyond the limits of the Barcelona metropolitan area,reaching the Pyrenees mountains.
