Perur taluk is a taluk in Coimbatore district, Tamil Nadu, India associated with the neighbourhood of Perur in the city of Coimbatore. It was created by Government of Tamil Nadu in 2013. The taluk had a population of 393,350 according to the 2011 Census. [1]

The temple is at the center of the city of Coimbatore in the core of the city, Town Hall, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. Koniamman is the "Guardian Deity" of the city. This temple is one of the twin historic temples in the city, the other being Perur Pateewarar Temple.
