Pheidole decepticon (named after the Decepticons from the toy line Transformers) [1] is a species of ant in the subfamily Myrmicinae.
Pheidole decepticon is a relatively widespread megacephala group species on the islands neighboring Madagascar. It occurs on the Comoros (Anjouan Island), Mayotte, Juan de Nova Island, and on the Cosmoledo Atoll of the Seychelles, which is located about 415 km northeast of Mayotte. Morphologically very similar to P. megacephala and P. megatron , the three are the only megacephala group species currently encountered on the smaller islands. Other species, such as the previously reported P. punctulata , were not collected recently on any of the islands. On Anjouan Island P. decepticon occurs together with P. megacephala and P. megatron. The latter was collected in lowland dry forest, coastal scrub land, and in a coconut plantation, while P. decepticon was found in rainforest, lowland coastal forest, Casuarina forest, old settlements, coral karst scrubland, and along roadsides. Pheidole megacephala was not found in forested habitats on Anjouan, but was collected once from within a coastal village. Whether the other two species occur in direct sympatry, or if they are spatially or ecologically separated is not known. [1]
The minor and major workers of P. decepticon are best separated from those of the other two species (P. megacephala and P. megatron) by their standing hairs, which are more abundant, fine and acute compared to the more sparsely distributed standing hairs that often end in blunt or bifurcate apices in P. megacephala and P. megatron. In addition, the postpetiolar ventral process of the major workers is less roundly convex and slightly smaller in the P. decepticon specimens. [1]
Megatron is a fictional character from the Transformers franchise created by American toy company Hasbro in 1984, based on a design by Japanese toy company Takara. Usually portrayed as a villain, Megatron is the supreme leader of the Decepticons, a faction of war mongering Transformers who seek to conquer their home planet of Cybertron and the rest of the known universe. He is one of the most frequently occurring characters in the Transformers fictional work, appearing in almost all continuities of the Transformers franchise. Generally depicted as a deadly Decepticon who transforms into a jet fighter and who serves as Megatron's second-in-command on Earth, Starscream's defining trait is his desire to overthrow Megatron and take his place as Decepticon leader.
The Autobots are benevolent, sentient, self-configuring robotic lifeforms from the planet Cybertron. Led by Optimus Prime, they are the main protagonists in the universe of the Transformers, a collection of various toys, cartoons, movies, graphic novels, and paperback books first introduced in 1984. The "Heroic Autobots" are opposed by the "Evil Decepticons". Both Autobots and Decepticons are humanoid robots that can transform into machines, vehicles and other familiar mechanical objects, as well as mimic organic lifeforms (Dinobots). Autobots typically transform into regular cars, trucks, or other road vehicles (automobiles) but some are aircraft, military vehicles, communication devices, weapons, and even robotic animals. These Autobots are often grouped into special "teams" that have the suffix "-bot" at the end, such as in Dinobot.
Soundwave is a fictional character appearing in various Transformers continuities in the Transformers franchise. His most well-known disguise is that of a microcassette recorder. Throughout most of his incarnations, he is an undyingly loyal lieutenant of the Decepticon leader Megatron. He is commonly depicted as Megatron's communications officer and, in some interpretations, only speaks when mocking the Autobots.
Transformers: Robots in Disguise, originally known as Transformers: Car Robots, is an anime television series created by Nihon Ad Systems and Studio Gallop in cooperation with Korean company Dongwoo Animation. It was originally conceived as a reboot with a self-contained universe separate from any of the other existing Transformers universes. It aired in Japan in 2000, and in the United States as part of the Fox Kids programming block from September 8, 2001 to March 30, 2002.
The Fallen is a fictional robot supervillain in the Transformers robot superhero franchise. According to Hasbro, he was formerly known as Megatronus, and was a multiversal singularity, meaning that while he exists across the multiverse, this is no longer the case because of an event called The Shrouding, where all multiversal singularities within the Hasbro-Takara multiversal now exist as separate beings within each universe. As explained in more detail in the appropriate sections below, The Fallen has been given different origin stories in several of the different continuities in which he has appeared.
