Philip Cahoy, Jr. is a retired American gymnast. He was a member of the United States men's national artistic gymnastics team.
Cahoy was a member of the 1980 Olympic team but did not compete because of the boycott. He participated in the 1984 Olympic trials but was hindered by injuries. A competitive attempt in 1988 was also unsuccessful because of injury.
Cahoy was a regular member of three World gymnastics teams: 1978, 1981, and 1985. He was an alternate for the 1983 squad. In 1986, he attended the Goodwill Games, where he came in fourth on pommel horse and sixth on parallel bars. [1]
Yelena Lvovna Shushunova was a Soviet Russian gymnast. Shushunova was one of five women who have won all-around titles at all major competitions: Olympics, World Championships and European/Continental Championships and one of eleven women who medaled on every event at World Championships. Shushunova was renowned for pioneering complex skills as well as her explosive and dynamic tumbling and high consistency.
Peter Glen Vidmar is an American gymnast and two-time Olympic gold medalist. He was a member of the United States men's national artistic gymnastics team and won gold in the team final and pommel horse, and silver in the individual all-around.
Barthold Wayne Conner is a retired American Olympic gymnast. He was a member of the United States men's national artistic gymnastics team and won two gold medals at the 1984 Summer Olympics. He owns and operates the Bart Conner Gymnastics Academy in Norman, Oklahoma, along with his wife, Romanian Olympic gold medalist Nadia Comăneci. In addition, both Comăneci and Conner are highly involved with the Special Olympics.
Mitchell Jay Gaylord is an American gymnast, actor, and 1984 Los Angeles Olympic gold medalist in gymnastics. He was a member of the United States men's national artistic gymnastics team.
Tatiana Felixivna Lysenko is a Soviet and Ukrainian former gymnast, who had her senior competitive career from 1990 to 1994. Lysenko was a member of the Soviet Union team during the early 1990s, a period when its pool of talent was deep. She is the 1992 Olympic champion on balance beam.
Kristen Ann Maloney is a retired gymnast from Pen Argyl, Pennsylvania, in the United States. She won bronze in the team event at the 2000 Olympic Games. Maloney was also the U.S. senior all-around national champion in 1998 and 1999 and the 1998 Goodwill Games gold medalist on the balance beam.
Henrietta Ónodi is a Hungarian artistic gymnast. She competed at the 1992 and 1996 Olympics and won a gold and a silver medal in 1992. After retiring from gymnastics in 1997 she moved to the United States, married American Olympic pentathlete Jimbo Haley, and became a naturalized U.S. citizen. In 2010, she was inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame.
Elizabeth Anna Okino is a retired American gymnast, a member of the famous "Károlyi Six-Pack" who in 1992 helped the United States win its first Olympic team medal in a non-boycotted Olympic Games. She is also the first Black woman of any nationality to win multiple individual World Championship medals in gymnastics.
Brandy K. Johnson-Scharpf is a retired American gymnast, gymnastics judge, stuntwoman and gymnastics coach. She owns Brandy Johnson's Global Gymnastics in Clermont, Florida.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers men's gymnastics team represents the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in the Big Ten Conference. Since being established in 1939, the program has won eight national championships, finished as the national runner-up seven times, and won forty-two NCAA event titles. Lance Robert Ringnald is a retired American gymnast. He was a member of the United States men's national artistic gymnastics team and participated in the 1988 Olympics. As a 16-year-old, Ringnald moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico to train at a local club, Gold Cup Gymnastics. In 1988, Ringnald, at 18, was the youngest male member of a U.S. Olympics Team since 20 years before. At that competition, Ringnald made the all-around finals, where he placed 35th. In 1989, he was a member of the US men's World Team.
Scott Philip Johnson is a retired American artistic gymnast. He was a member of the United States men's national artistic gymnastics team and represented the United States at the 1984 Summer Olympics and at the 1988 Summer Olympics. He was a member of the 1984 gold medal winning team, and he was the team captain in 1988. He made history at the 1987 Pan American Games by becoming the first gymnast to win a medal in each event.
Francis Allen was head coach of the Nebraska Cornhuskers men's gymnastics team from 1969 to 2009. Those 40 years make him the longest-tenured head coach in the history of Nebraska Cornhuskers athletics. He has coached his men's gymnastics team to eight NCAA National Championship titles. He was the head coach for two Men's Olympic Gymnastics Teams and coached nine gymnasts who competed in the Olympics.
