Phillip Galiano (born September 8, 1977), is an American football coach who is the assistant special teams coach for the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League (NFL). Galiano played college football for the Shippensburg University Raiders.

Early life

Originally from Philadelphia, Pa, Galiano graduated in 1995 from Norristown Area High School in Norristown, Pennsylvania. [1]

College playing career

Galiano played his college football for the Shippensburg University Raiders from 1995 to 1999. A three-year defensive starter at safety, Galiano also served as a captain his senior season. During his final three years he helped the Raiders to consecutive winning seasons and a 21–11 record overall. During his Junior season Galiano set a Shippensburg record for the longest fumble return when he took one 95 yards for a touchdown. Despite missing several games due to injury, Galiano finished his career with 250 tackles from the safety position. [2]

Coaching career

Galiano started his coaching career in 2001 as an Outside linebacker coach at Division III, Dickinson. [3] The following season, Galiano coached the same position but this time at Division II, New Haven. [4] From there Galiano switched to the other side of the ball to become an offensive assistant at the FCS level, Villanova University. [3] In 2003, Galiano began his first stint with the Rutgers Scarlet Knights and head coach Greg Schiano, as a graduate assistant. [3] The following three seasons at Rutgers Galiano coached linebackers (2004) and defensive ends (2005-2006). He then served as the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Florida International from 2007-2009. [5] Rejoining Rutgers and head coach Greg Schiano, [6] Galiano coached tight ends in 2010 and the defensive line in 2011 for the Scarlet Knights. [7] After 12 years at the collegiate level, Galiano followed Greg Schiano to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the NFL. [8] He was added as an assistant special teams coach for the 2012 and 2013 seasons. [9] In 2014, Galiano returned to Rutgers for a third time as head coach Kyle Flood's director of recruiting operations. [3] He spent the 2015 season as the Scarlet Knights special teams coordinator and tight ends coach. [10] [11] At the conclusion of the 2015 season, head coach Kyle Flood was fired and Chris Ash was named Rutgers new head coach. [12] Galiano was not retained for the 2016 season, [13] which led to his return to the NFL to join the Miami Dolphins as a special teams intern. [4] Galiano spent two seasons with the Penn State Nittay Lions serving as a defensive consultant in 2017 and their special teams coordinator and assistant defensive line coach in 2018. [4] [14] [15] [16] On February 15, 2019 it was announced that Galiano would be leaving Penn State to become an assistant special teams coach with the New Orleans Saints. [17]

Westerman played high school football in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at St. Thomas Aquinas High School before moving to Brampton, Ontario and attending Notre Dame Secondary School.

Mark Emil D'Onofrio is an American college football coach and former professional player. He is currently the inside linebackers coach for the Stanford Cardinal. Kyle J. Flood is an American football coach and former player. He is currently the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach for the Texas Longhorns football team. He is also the former head football coach of the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. Flood was named the 29th head football coach of the Rutgers Scarlet Knights football team after Greg Schiano accepted the National Football League head coaching position for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He is the first Rutgers football head coach to be promoted from assistant since the 1973 season. Flood is a graduate of Iona College and earned four varsity letters for the Gaels between 1989 and 1992.

Robb Smith is an American football coach and former player. He most recently was the defensive coordinator for the Duke Blue Devils. Previously, he held the same position for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, Arkansas Razorbacks and the Minnesota Golden Gophers. He was formerly the linebackers coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers under coach Greg Schiano during the 2013 season.

The 2013 Rutgers Scarlet Knights football team represented Rutgers University in the 2013 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Scarlet Knights played their home games at High Point Solutions Stadium in Piscataway, NJ as a member of the American Athletic Conference. This was the second season with Kyle Flood as the head coach, and last season before transitioning to playing in the Big Ten Conference. They finished the season 6–7, 3–5 in American Athletic play to finish in a tie for sixth place. They were invited to the Pinstripe Bowl where they were defeated by Notre Dame. Notre Dame would later vacate the win on November 22, 2016 due to academic violations.

Kirk Ciarrocca, is the offensive coordinator for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. He most recently served as the offensive coordinator at the University of Minnesota. Prior to that he spent a year as the offensive coordinator for Penn State University.

Andrew James Janocko is an American football coach who is the quarterbacks coach for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League (NFL). He previously served as an assistant coach at Mercyhurst University, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Rutgers University, before spending six years as an assistant coach with the Minnesota Vikings for various position groups; serving as their quarterbacks coach in his final year with the team.

Ben Albert is an American football coach and former player. He is currently the Special teams coordinator at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Albert's previous stops include the University of Richmond, Rutgers University, the University of Delaware, the Jacksonville Jaguars, Temple University, Boston College, and Duke University.

Christopher Rippon is an American football coach. He is the special teams coordinator for the Hobart Statesmen football team. He previously coached for Western Connecticut, Boston University, Syracuse, Ole Miss, Rutgers, Marshall, Columbia, and the Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played college football for Southern Connecticut.
