Jeremy Shane Springer (born February 22, 1989) is an American football coach who is the special teams coordinator for the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the UTEP Miners and previously coached them, the Texas A&M Aggies, Arizona Wildcats, Marshall Thundering Herd and Los Angeles Rams.
Springer was born on February 22, 1989, in Harlingen, Texas. [1] He attended Los Fresnos High School and played football, basketball and track and field. [1] He played wide receiver through his junior year before switching to quarterback and becoming starter as a senior in 2006. [1] [2] He played with his twin brother at Los Fresnos and set school records for single season passing yards and points scored. [3] He totaled in his senior year 3,489 passing yards and 42 touchdowns while running for 632 yards and 15 touchdowns, being named all-state and the district player of the year. [1] Off the field, Springer was a member of the National Honor Society and was listed in Who's Who Among American High School Students. [1]
Springer committed to play college football for the UTEP Miners. [3] He redshirted as a freshman in 2007. [1] The following year, he played three games as a backup quarterback but threw no passes. [4] He moved to middle linebacker in 2009 and started all of their games, having 66 tackles, third-most on the team, and three pass breakups. [1] He had 25 tackles in 2010 and was voted a team captain as a senior in 2011. [1] [4] He totaled 161 tackles and an interception in his collegiate career. [5]
While still playing at UTEP in 2011, Springer served as an assistant in football operations for the team. [5] He served in this position through 2012, and from 2013 to 2014 was a graduate assistant working with special teams and the defensive line. [6] In 2015, he joined the Texas A&M Aggies as a special teams quality control coach, working with Jeff Banks, who had been on the UTEP staff while Springer was still a player. [7] [8]
After three years in that position, Springer joined the Arizona Wildcats in 2018 as special teams coordinator. [9] He served three seasons in the role before being hired in the same position with the Marshall Thundering Herd in 2021. [10] Although initially reported to have joined the Ole Miss Rebels as special teams coordinator in 2022, Springer ultimately entered the professional ranks by becoming assistant special teams coach for the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League (NFL). Following two years with the Rams, Springer was named the special teams coordinator of the New England Patriots in 2024. [13]
Charles Douglas Cecil is an American football coach and former player in the National Football League (NFL). He is currently the safeties coach at the University of Arizona in Tucson, his alma mater. He previously served as a defensive assistant for the Tennessee Titans and Los Angeles Rams. Cecil also spent two seasons (1999–2000) as a television analyst for University of Arizona football games. As a player, he was a Pro Bowl safety.

Thomas "Pepper" Johnson is an American football coach and former linebacker who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 13 seasons, the first seven of which were for the New York Giants. He won two Super Bowls with the Giants before playing for the Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions and New York Jets.

Dana August Dimel is an American football coach and former player. He was most recently the head football coach of the University of Texas at El Paso. Previously he was the co-offensive coordinator and running backs coach at Kansas State University from 2009–2017. Dimel has also coached at the University of Arizona and served as the head football coach at the University of Wyoming from 1997 to 1999 and at the University of Houston from 2000 to 2002, compiling a career college football record of 47-79.

Raheem Morris is an American football coach who is the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League (NFL). The 2008 Houston Cougars football team, also known as the Houston Cougars, Houston, or UH, represented the University of Houston in the 2008 NCAA Division I FBS football season. It was the 63rd year of season play for Houston. The team was coached by first-year head football coach, Kevin Sumlin whose previous position was as co-offensive coordinator for the Oklahoma Sooners. He replaced Art Briles. The team played its home games at Robertson Stadium, a 32,000-person capacity stadium on-campus in Houston. Competing against the Air Force Falcons in the 2008 Armed Forces Bowl, the Cougars won their first bowl game since 1980, and broke the longest current bowl game losing streak in Division I FBS football at that time. In addition, Houston defeated two nationally ranked opponents, which the Cougars hadn't achieved since their 1984 season.
The 2009 Marshall Thundering Herd football team represented Marshall University in the 2009 NCAA Division I FBS football season. Marshall competed as a member of the East Division of Conference USA, and played their home games at Joan C. Edwards Stadium. The Thundering Herd finished the season 7–6 overall and 4–4 in Conference USA play. They were invited to the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl, where they defeated Ohio, 21–17.

The 2010 UTEP Miners football team represented the University of Texas at El Paso in the 2010 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The team's head coach was Mike Price, who served his seventh season at the post. The Miners played their home games at the Sun Bowl Stadium in El Paso, Texas and were members of Conference USA in the West Division. The Miners finished the regular season 6–6, 3–5 in C-USA play, and were invited to the New Mexico Bowl versus BYU. While UTEP lost the matchup, 52–24, the Miners improved upon their 4–8 record from the previous season. UTEP averaged 29,350 fans per game.

Jeff Banks is an American football coach and former player. He is the assistant head coach, tight ends coach, and special teams coordinator at the University of Texas, a position he has held since 2021. Banks served as the interim head coach at Texas A&M University at the end of the 2017 season coach in the Aggies in the 2017 Belk Bowl, following the firing of Kevin Sumlin. Following that, Banks became the special teams coordinator and tight end coach at the University of Alabama from 2018–2021 until being hired by new head coach at the University of Texas, Steve Sarkisian.
The 2024 season will be the Los Angeles Rams' upcoming 87th in the National Football League, their 88th overall, their 58th in the Greater Los Angeles Area, the fifth playing their home games at SoFi Stadium and their eighth under head coach Sean McVay. This will be their first season since 2013 without Aaron Donald, as he retired on March 15. The Rams will be searching to improve on their 10–7 record and to advance in the playoffs after being defeated in the Wild Card Round in 2023. In addition, the Rams will move their team training facility from Cal Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks to the Kroenke Warner Center complex in Woodland Hills.
