The 1904 Summer Olympics were an international multi-sport event held in St. Louis, Missouri, United States, from 29 August to 3 September 1904, as part of an extended sports program lasting from 1 July to 23 November 1904, located at what is now known as Francis Field on the campus of Washington University in St. Louis. This was the first time that the Olympic Games were held outside Europe.
The Cornell Big Red is the informal name of the sports and other competitive teams that represent Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. The university sponsors 37 varsity sports, and several intramural and club teams. Cornell participates in NCAA Division I as part of the Ivy League.
Newman Arena is a 4,473-seat multi-purpose arena at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, located in Bartels Hall, which is adjacent to Lynah Rink. It is home to the Cornell Big Red basketball and volleyball teams. It also holds the home of Cornell wrestling for larger events. It opened in January 1990, replacing Barton Hall, which was remodeled to become a full-time indoor track venue. It was named for the late Floyd R. Newman, Class of 1912, a major benefactor to the university.
The 6th Maccabiah Games were held in Tel Aviv, Israel in 1961, with 1,100 athletes from 27 countries competing in 18 sports. The Games were officially opened in an Opening Ceremony on August 29, 1961, in Ramat Gan Stadium by Israeli President Yitzhak Ben-Zvi before a crowd of 30,000. The closing ceremony took place on September 5, 1961, at the stadium before a crowd of 40,000, with Israeli Prime Minister David Ben Gurion telling the crowd that he hoped that in the future athletes from North Africa, Poland, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, and the Soviet Union would also compete. The United States won 58 gold medals, Israel won 28 gold medals, and South Africa was third with 11 gold medals. American sportscaster Mel Allen narrated a film about the 1961 Games.
Fred Oberlander was an Austrian, British, and Canadian wrestler. He was born in Vienna, Austria. He won the World Championships in 1935. Oberlander was offered a chance to compete for Austria at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Nazi Germany, but declined. He represented Great Britain as team captain at the 1948 Summer Olympics. Oberlander later emigrated to Canada, where he founded the Canadian Maccabi Association. He won a silver medal in wrestling at the 1950 Maccabiah Games, and the heavyweight wrestling title at the 1953 Maccabiah Games and was named Outstanding Jewish World Athlete.
Terrence Michael "Terry" Paul is a retired rowing coxswain from Canada. He competed in two consecutive Summer Olympics for his native country, starting in 1988. At his second appearance he was the Coxswain of the team that won the gold medal in the Men's Eights.
Charles Edwin "Charley" Ackerly was an American wrestler who competed in the 1920 Summer Olympics. He was a 1920 graduate of Cornell University where he competed for the Cornell Big Red wrestling team under Coach Walter O'Connell. Ackerly was also a member of the Kappa Delta Rho fraternity and Sphinx Head Society.
Andrew Mark Borodow is retired male wrestler from Canada. An Olympian, he won both the Maccabiah Games championship and the Commonwealth Games championship, and a silver medal in the Pan American Games. He was inducted into the Canada Wrestling Hall of Fame.
Robert John Steckle was a Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestler from Canada who competed in three consecutive summer Olympic Games, starting in 1952. He carried the Canadian flag at the opening ceremonies of the 1956 Summer Olympic Games in Melbourne, Australia, the only Canadian wrestler ever to do so. He was born in Kitchener, Ontario.
The Cornell Big Red men's soccer program represents the Cornell University in all NCAA Division I men's college soccer competitions. Founded in 1908, the Big Red compete in the Ivy League. The Big Red are coached by John Smith, a former professional player and assistant coach for the Stanford Cardinal men's soccer program. Cornell plays their home matches at Charles F. Berman Field.

Emily Fulton is a women's ice hockey player. In April 2010, Fulton was part of the Canadian Under 18 squad that captured gold at the IIHF Under-18 World Championships. As a member of the gold medal- winning squad, a hockey card of her was featured in the Upper Deck 2010 World of Sports card series. Following her collegiate career at Cornell, she was the second pick overall in the 2015 CWHL Draft.
Lucas Steele Tasker is a former Canadian football wide receiver and sports broadcaster. He spent the entirety of his seven-season Canadian Football League (CFL) career with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Tasker played college football at Cornell, and is the son of 7-time Pro Bowler and former CBS Sports color analyst Steve Tasker.
The 1925 Dartmouth Indians football team was an American football team that represented Dartmouth College as an independent during the 1925 college football season. In its third season under head coach Jesse Hawley, the team compiled an 8–0 record, shut out five of eight opponents, and outscored all opponents by a total of 340 to 29. The team was designated as 1925 national champions by the Dickinson System and were awarded the Rissman Trophy after its creation the next year. They were also retroactively named champions by Parke H. Davis in the 1934 edition of Spalding's Foot Ball Guide.
Nahshon Aaron Garrett is an American freestyle and graduated folkstyle wrestler, who currently competes at 57 kilograms. In the international style, Garrett was originally the U.S. representative for the 2018 World Championships at 61 kg as the Final X champion before withdrawing from the tournament, and is also a two-time US Open runner-up and Dave Schultz Memorial International runner-up. As a folkstyle wrestler, he was the 2016 NCAA Division I national champion, a four-time NCAA All-American, and a four-time EIWA Conference champion for the Cornell Big Red.
