Podosphaera epilobii, commonly known as the willowherb mildew, is a species of Podosphaera mildew found wherever Epilobium species are found in Europe and North America. [1] [2] [3]
This species of Podosphaera is only found on Epilobium species hosts exclusively, with Epilobium ciliatum and Chamerion angustifolium being the main hosts in North America, while in Europe, many other species are used. [2] [4] [5]
In North America, this species causes a white dusting on the leaves of Epilobium ciliatum, and related species. In Europe this species has been spotted creating galls on the stems of Epilobium hirsutum and Chamerion angustifolium. [5]
