Coins

Although some of the coins were minted as early as 1990, they were not released until January 1, 1995, when the złoty was redenominated after hyperinflation was harnessed. There are 100 grosz (gr) to one złoty (zł).

The Bank of Poland is the name of two former banks in Poland, each of which acted as a central bank. The first institution was founded by Prince Francis Xavier Drucki-Lubecki in 1828 in the Kingdom of Congress Poland. The second was established in 1924 under the Second Polish Republic by Prime Minister Władysław Grabski and was liquidated in 1952. Their legacy is continued by Poland's present central bank, the National Bank of Poland (NBP), founded in 1945.

Książ Castle is a castle in northern Wałbrzych in Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Poland. The largest castle in the region of Silesia, it is the third-largest in Poland behind Malbork Castle and Wawel Castle. It lies within Książ Landscape Park, a protected area located in the Sudetes and Sudeten Foreland. The castle overlooks the gorge of the Pełcznica river and is one of Wałbrzych's main tourist attractions.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Commemorative coins of Poland</span>

Commemorative coins in Poland are special coins minted by the Polish Mint and issued by the National Bank of Poland. Each year several collector and commemorative coins are minted to mark political, historical, scientific, cultural, sporting, humanitarian and other similar events of general importance to Poland or with wider international significance. The material used for production of the commemorative coins is usually alloy of silver Ag 925, gold Au 900 or pure gold Au 999,9. Most of the commemorative coins have their equivalents in occasional coins of common use, minted from special brass called “Nordic Gold”.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Bon Towarowy PeKaO</span>

Bon towarowy PeKaO cheques were substitute legal tender used in the People's Republic of Poland. The Polish government, needing hard foreign currency, introduced them in 1960. Citizens of Poland had to exchange foreign currency they had into these notes, issued by the government-controlled Bank Pekao. They were only accepted in special shops in Poland where one could buy restricted, imported goods. Outside of these shops and the entire country, bony had no value and were not regarded as legal tender.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">10 złotych note</span> Denomination note of Polish currency

The 10 Polish Złotych note is the lowest value złoty banknote and has been used since the redenomination of the złoty in 1995. The note is used as the sole currency in Poland, a country with a population of about 38 million.

On Sunday 19 August 1962 a group of six men, with help of a bank’s safe-keeper, robbed a local branch of the National Bank of Poland, located in the town of Wołów in Lower Silesian Voivodeship. Altogether, 12,531,000 złotys were stolen, which in late 2000s (decade) prices, would make some 18 million złotys. It was the biggest bank robbery in the history of the People's Republic of Poland, to the point that the Polish government for a while considered withdrawing all 50-złoty and 100-złoty bills from the market, which would help find the robbers.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Red złoty</span>

Red złoty refers to circulating gold coins minted in the Kingdom of Poland from 1526 to 1831. Whereas złoty "(adj.) gold(en)" could simply refer to the colour, czerwony (red) specified the material as gold.

The Polish 500 Złotych note is a denomination of Polish currency. The bill's dimensions are 150 × 75 mm. It has been put into circulation on 10 February 2017.

Lodz Ghetto mark was a surrogate currency that circulated in the Lodz Ghetto in 1940—1944 until the Ghetto was liquidated in August 1944. It was divided into 100 pfennig. The notes had no value outside the Ghetto, and could not be exchanged into other currencies.
