The Portland Fighting Shockwave is a women's professional football team competing in the Women's Football Alliance. The team is based in Portland, Oregon, and plays their home games at Hillsboro Stadium in nearby Hillsboro. They are the longest running women's semi-professional team in the Portland metropolitan area. [2]

History

For the 2005 season the Shockwave played their home games at Lincoln High School in Portland. [3] During their fifth season in 2006, the team won the Pacific Northwest Division for the first time and made the Independent Women's Football League (IWFL) playoffs for the first time. [4]

John Joseph Harrington Jr. is a former American football quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for seven seasons, primarily with the Detroit Lions. He played college football at Oregon, where he was named Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year as a senior, and was selected third overall by the Lions in the 2002 NFL Draft. Unable to duplicate his collegiate success, Harrington left the Lions after four seasons. Harrington spent his final three seasons as the primary starter for the Miami Dolphins and Atlanta Falcons and a backup with the New Orleans Saints.

Glencoe High School is a public secondary school in Hillsboro, Oregon that is part of the Hillsboro School District. It was founded in 1980 to relieve overcrowding at Hillsboro High School caused by the city's rapid expansion. Glencoe High is the second oldest of the four high schools in the city. Glencoe is classified as a 6A school for activities and sports. It takes its name from the former community of Glencoe. In 2003, the school, along with all schools in the district, made national news when 17 days of classes were cut from the school year due to budget cuts to education in Oregon. IN 2016, the graduation rate was 86%.

The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes are a baseball team located in Keizer, Oregon, who are charter members of the Mavericks Independent Baseball League, a four-team league entirely based in the Salem Metropolitan Statistical Area and playing all their home games at Volcanoes Stadium. From 1997 to 2020, they were members of Minor League Baseball's Northwest League as the Class A Short Season affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. Capital FC is an American soccer team based in Salem, Oregon, United States. Although founded in 2008 as part of the development system for the Portland Timbers USSF D2 organization, beginning in 2011 they were part of the development system for the Major League Soccer franchise of the same name until 2022. The team plays in USL League Two, the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid. The Men's team is known as Capital Futbol Club Atletico.
