Pradeep Kumar Singh (born 29 December 1964) is an Indian politician and a member of the Indian Parliament since 2009. He won the seat again in 2019 Indian general election. [1] He also served as member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly in 2005.
He is also a Member of Standing Committee on Chemicals and Fertilisers, Member of Consultative committee, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas. [2] [3]
Janata Dal (United) (lit. 'People's Party (United)'), abbreviated as JD(U), is an Indian political party with political presence mainly in eastern and north-eastern India. JD(U) is recognised as a state party in the states of Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur. JD(U) heads the government in Bihar under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and is also a member of the ruling government in Manipur. Singh got the ticket from Janata Dal (United) amidst the confusion over allocation of Tarapur constituency to Rohit Chaudhary, the younger brother of leader of opposition in Bihar Legislative Council, Samrat Chaudhary. The Tarapur constituency was the stronghold of Shakuni Choudhury, who had influence over Kushwaha voters, who are dominant in this assembly constituency. However, Rajiv Kumar Singh, himself a Kushwaha, was able to defeat his nearest rival in the bypolls of 2021.
