Formation and history
The Premier League was founded in 2013. Since 1994 there have been two leagues based on entity principles with best teams from both taking part in playoff to crown national champion. Later, after UEFA decided to help Bosnia and Herzegovina FA to establish nationwide league played in whole country, the league itself was started in 2013, along with Women's football league (also assisted by UEFA).
12 teams take part in the competition. The league is played in two phases. In the first phase teams play each other once in 11 rounds. Top six teams qualify to Championship stage while bottom six teams qualify to Relegation stage. In both second phase stages teams play each other twice on home-away basis so there are 21 rounds (11+10) total. Top team of Championship stage is crowned champion while bottom two teams of Relegation stage are relegated.
In first two season (2013-14 and 2014-15), competition was played in home-away round-robin format. Top team after 22 rounds was crowned champion.
If relegated teams comes from Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina entity, they will play in First league of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina next season; otherwise, if team comes from Republic of Srpska entity, it will take part in First league of Republic of Srpska next season. Relegated teams could be both from same entity. Champions of entity leagues (First League of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina; First League of Republika Srpska) are promoted to the Premier league.
Winner of the competition qualifies to UEFA Futsal Cup. Best result in the competition by a team from Bosnia Herzegovina was achieved in 2013-14 edition when Tango reached Elite round (best 16 teams of the competition).

The Yugoslav First League was the premier football league in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia (1918–1941) and Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (1945–1992).
The Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina, based in Sarajevo, is the chief officiating body of football in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Bosnian football association was founded as the Sarajevo football sub-association of Yugoslavia in 1920. In 1992, the association was re-founded as the Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The First League of the Republika Srpska is a football league in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Together with the First League of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, it forms the second level of football in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

It was the last edition in which professional football teams from SR Bosnia and Herzegovina and SR Macedonia participated, as well as the last of the SFR Yugoslavia in general as the First League of FR Yugoslavia was established the following season. Red Star Belgrade won the competition.
The Football Association of Republika Srpska is the official football association of the Republika Srpska entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Fudbalski klub Radnik Bijeljina is a professional association football club based in the city of Bijeljina that is situated in northeast Bosnia and Herzegovina. The club plays its home matches on the Bijeljina City Stadium, which has a capacity of 6,000 seats. They compete in the Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The name Radnik means worker.
Bosnia and Herzegovina Women's Premier League is the top level women's football league of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Since 2013 the league has been unified. Before it was played in two separate groups based on league systems confined within Bosnia's entities, one being the First Women's League of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the other First Women's League of the Republika Srpska, with the champion being decided through play-offs.
The First League of Bosnia and Herzegovina operated by the Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina was the top tier football league in Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and after signage of Dayton Peace Agreement of Bosnia and Herzegovina, until creation of Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2000. League changed format and name several times since its inception and the first 1994–95 season.
HŠK Zrinjski Mostar is a professional football club, based in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The club plays in the Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and has been one of the top teams in the country over the last few years. With eight championships won in the Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zrinjski is one of the most decorated football clubs in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The club plays its home matches at Stadion pod Bijelim Brijegom in Mostar. Zrinjski's fans are called Ultras Mostar and the fan club was founded in 1994.
The 2012–13 Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina was the thirteenth season of the Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the highest football league of Bosnia and Herzegovina, since its original establishment in 2000 and eleventh as a unified country-wide league. The season began on 4 August 2012 and ended on 26 May 2013, with a winter break between 26 November 2012 and 2 March 2013. The official fixture schedule was released on 3 July 2012.

The season began on 27 July 2013 and ended on 10 May 2014, with a winter break between 2 December 2013 and 1 March 2014.
The 2014–15 Bosnia and Herzegovina Football Cup was the twentieth season of Bosnia and Herzegovina's annual football cup, and a fifteenth season of the unified competition. The winner will qualify to the first qualifying round of the 2015–16 UEFA Europa League.
Clubs from Bosnia and Herzegovina have played in European competitions since the 1967–68 season, when Yugoslav champions Sarajevo took part in the European Cup. They defeated Cypriot team Olympiakos Nicosia in the first round and then lost to Manchester United in the second round.
The 2017–18 Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina was the eighteenth season of the Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the highest football league of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The season began on 22 July 2017 and concluded on 20 May 2018, with a winter break between early December 2017 and late February 2018.
The 2018–19 First League of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina was the 19th season of the First League of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the second tier league football in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It began on 11 August 2018 and got concluded on 2 June 2019.
Hrvatski Futsal Club Zrinjski Mostar is a futsal club from Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It competes in Premier Futsal League of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The club is part of the Zrinjski Mostar sport society.
