Providence is the capital and most populous city of the U.S. state of Rhode Island. The tournament's Frozen Four – the semifinals and finals – was hosted by the University of Notre Dame and the Chicago Sports Commission at the United Center in Chicago.

Ryan Donato is an American professional ice hockey forward who is currently playing for the Seattle Kraken of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected by the Boston Bruins in the second round, 56th overall, in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. He has previously played for the Boston Bruins, Minnesota Wild and San Jose Sharks. Donato is the son of former Bruins and longtime NHL player Ted Donato. On October 12, 2021, Donato scored the first goal in Seattle Kraken franchise history in a 4–3 loss against the Vegas Golden Knights.
