Pudupet is located near Egmore, in Chennai at an elevation of 32 m above the mean sea level and with the geographical coordinates of: 13°04'08.8"N, 80°15'51.1"°E (i.e. 13.0691°N, 80.2642°E).

Pudupet is well connected by roads. Metropolitan Transport Corporation operates a lot of buses via. Pudupet. People from other areas of Chennai and other districts visit Pudupet using the bus services operated through the nearby Anna Salai.[ citation needed ]

Rail transport

Chennai Egmore railway station which is very nearer to Pudupet serves it better for the people who come from a long way via. Tambaram. Chennai Central railway station which is about 2 km from Pudupet also helps people coming from far away via. Tiruvallur. Other metro (railway) stations are: LIC metro station, Government Estate metro station, Chintadripet railway station, Thousand Lights metro station, and so on. Egmore metro station serves residents of localities of Pudupet, [4] Periyamet, Vepery and more.

New Chennai Greenfield International Airport is a proposed greenfield airport project to serve the city of Chennai, India. It will be built near Parandur of Kanchipuram district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It will work alongside Chennai International Airport. The proposed airport will be spread around 5,000 acres. The Government of Tamil Nadu has declared that Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) will lead the project. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) conducted surveys on various areas near Chennai for a new airport for the city. Initially, a site near Sriperumbudur was fixed for the airport. But due to delays and cost of the land, the government decided to set the new airport in Parandur. The airport will also boost trade from Chennai and neighbouring districts as it will have its own dedicated cargo terminal, leading to a rapid increase in the economic development of the state.
