Puebla del Salvador is a municipality located in the province of Cuenca, Castile-La Mancha, Spain. According to the 2022 census (INE), the municipality has a population of 192 inhabitants.

History

The visit of the emperor Carlos V

On December 19, 1542, a chronicler by the name of Jean de Vandenesse recorded the overnight stay of the royal procession in Puebla del Salvador. This was a procession that accompanied the Holy Roman Emperor, Carlos V and Prince Felipe II to Madrid. [2]



Holidays

As is common in most towns, the festive calendar of Puebla del Salvador has two types of celebrations; religious and ones based on tradition. The religious celebrations celebrate saints recognized by the village. The celebrations based on tradition are usually related to the land, fertility, courtship, etc. [3]

Huejotzingo ( is a small city and municipality located just northwest of the city of Puebla, in central Mexico. The settlement's history dates back to the pre-Hispanic period, when it was a dominion, with its capital a short distance from where the modern settlement is today. Modern Huejotzingo is located where a Franciscan monastery was founded in 1525, and in 1529, the monks moved the indigenous population of Huejotzingo to live around the monastery. Today, Huejotzingo is known for the production of alcoholic apple cider and fruit preserves, as well as its annual carnival. This carnival is distinct as it centers on the re-enactment of several historical and legendary events related to the area. The largest of these is related to the Battle of Puebla, with about 2, 000 residents representing French and Mexican forces that engage in mock battles over four days.

A Tree of Life is a type of Mexican pottery sculpture traditional in central Mexico, especially in the municipality of State of Mexico. Originally the sculptures depicted the Biblical story of creation, as an aid for teaching it to natives in the early colonial period. The fashioning of the trees in a terracotta sculpture began in Izúcar de Matamoros, Puebla but today the craft is most closely identified with Metepec. Traditionally, these sculptures are supposed to consist of certain biblical images, such as Adam and Eve, but recently there have been trees created with themes completely unrelated to the Bible.

Carnival in Mexico is celebrated by about 225 communities in various ways, with the largest and best known modern celebrations occurring in Mazatlán and the city of Veracruz.

Sawdust carpets are one or more layers of colored sawdust, and sometimes other additional materials, laid on the ground as decoration. Sawdust carpets are traditionally created to greet a religious procession that walks over them. The tradition of decorating streets in this fashion began in Europe and was brought to the Americas by the Spanish. The tradition is still found in Mexico, Central America, parts of South America and parts of the United States, but it is strongest in Mexico and Central America.
