Purushottam Institute of Engineering and Technology (PIET) is a private co-aid undergraduate engineering college located in semi rural part of Mandiakudar of semi urban town Kansbahal. The institute was established in 1999. In the beginning, the institute temporarily functioned in the campus of Biju Patnaik Hockey Stadium, Sector 06 of city Rourkela, with small a number of students and faculty. In 2001 the institute moved to new campus located at Mandiakudar, 30 km away from the city Rourkela.

The institute offered 4 years of undergraduate B.Tech degree with affiliation from Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT). The undergraduate students studied courses in streams of CSE, ETC, EEE, IT, AEI and ME. In the year 2007 the institute started courses for MCA and MBA. [1]

The institute is almost one kilometer away from the town of Kansbahal and half a kilometer from IIPM School of Management. The campus has a residential hostel complex, hanuman temple and small canteen built inside the institute campus for students coming from outside of the city.

The degree institute is now closed and is taken over by its diploma college Purushottam School of Engineering and Technology for under privileged students and is located in state highway of SH 10 of Kansbahal and Rourkela.

Mandikudar is a small village situated near the outskirts of steel township Rourkela. Its jurisdiction is entitled to town of Kansbahal. Mandiakudar got its name from a staple crop named "Mandia" which was cultivated by poor people in that area. The village is about one kilometer away from Kansbahal situated in between State Highways SH 24 and SH 10.


Padmanava College of Engineering (PCE), Rourkela was established in academic year 1999-2000 to impart degree courses in engineering under the Padmanva Educational Trust, Bhubaneswar. The prime objective of the trust has been the promotion of facilities of technical education for people of west Odisha and around.

Dr. Ambedkar Memorial Institute of Information Technology and Management Science or (DAMITS) is a business school located in Jagda of city Rourkela. DAMITS was established in the year 2001 under Dr. Ambedkar Memorial Social, Welfare & Educational Trust. The Institute is affiliated to AICTE, Sambalpur University and Biju Patnaik University of Technology. The Institute offers three years regular course on undergraduate degree of BBA and BCA with two years regular course on postgraduate degree of MBA and MCA.
