Rourkela Institute of Technology (RIT), established in 1984, is one of the oldest diploma colleges in the western Odisha Sundergarh, India. It is situated in the city outskirts of Rourkela functioning at site of Kalunga. The college is affiliated under AICTE, New Delhi, Biju Patnaik University of Technology and SCTE & VT recognized under government of Odisha.[ citation needed ]

Rourkela is a planned city located in the northern district Sundargarh of Odisha, India. It is the third-largest Urban Agglomeration in Odisha after Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. Previously a neglected aspect of the Indian Central government, Education in Odisha is witnessing a rapid transformation. Its capital city, Bhubaneswar along with Cuttack, are emerging as a knowledge hub in India with several new public and private universities, including the establishment of an Indian Institute of Technology after five decades of demand.

College of Engineering Bhubaneswar (COEB) is a private institute located in Patia, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Mahavir Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) was established in 2001. It is spread over a 102-acre campus. It is located beside the NH-5 and about 8 km. from Bhubaneswar bus-stand towards Khordha. The college is approved by AICTE and affiliated by Biju Patnaik University of Technology. An ISO 9001:2000 Certified college.

The Barrister Ranjit Mohanty Group of Institution (BRM) was established in 2000 as BRM Trust to provide computer science education for school students for the Government of Odisha. The Jhadeswar Institute of Engineering & Technology(JIET), Balasore is a private run diploma engineering school established in 2009 by Jhadeswar Educational Trust. Jhadeswar Educational Trust has also have established an ITC in 2007. It is now affiliated to SCTE & VT, Odisha and also approved by AICTE.

The Institute of Textile Technology, Choudwar, Cuttack is the only institute in Orissa offering engineering course in Textile Technology. It is a Government run diploma engineering or polytechnic established in 1983 for developing the textile manpower of Orissa for the satisfying the huge demand of manpower in textile industries and for increasing textile technical knowledge of new youth for those growing industries.

Uma Charan Pattnaik Engineering School (UCPES) previously known as Berhampur Engineering School, named after the great freedom fighter and eminent parliamentarian Late Uma Charan Patnaik, was established in the year 1956. It is located in the Silk-city, at a distance of five km from the Railway Station and three km from the Bus-stand. The Industries Department, Government of Odisha, took over this institution for better management from private committee on 12 November 1958. This institution is affiliated to the State Council for Technical Education and Vocation Training (SCTE&VT) Orissa, Bhubaneswar and is under the administrative control of Director of Technical Education and training Orissa, Cuttack which comes under the Industries Department, Government of Odisha.
