R. Bindu is an Indian Politician of CPI(M),who serves as Minister for Higher Education and Social Justice, [1] Government of Kerala.
She is the former Mayor of the Thrissur Municipal Corporation,Kerala. [2] [3] [4] She is the first woman minister from Thrissur. [5] She is also the first woman MLA from Irinjalakuda constituency. Bindu was the vice principal and Head of English Department at Sree Kerala Varma College,Thrissur. She was the member of the senate and syndicate of the Calicut University. [6] She is the central committee member of AIDWA and also has close association with All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA).
Bindu is married to A. Vijayaraghavan,former parliamentarian and Former Secretary of the CPI(M) Kerala State Committee.
Bindu was born in 1967 as the daughter of N Radhakrishnan and K.K.Shanthakumari. She completed her education in Irinjalakkuda Girls' HS,St. Joseph's College,Irinjalakuda,and JNU Delhi. She holds a MA in English Literature and an MPhil and PhD. Bindu entered social activities through student politics.

Pinarayi Vijayan is an Indian politician who is the current Chief Minister of Kerala,serving since 25 May 2016. A member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of India (Marxist),he is the longest-serving secretary of the Kerala State Committee of the CPI(M) (1998–2015). He also served in the government of Kerala as Minister of Electric Power and Co-operatives from 1996 to 1998. Vijayan won a seat in the May 2016 Kerala Legislative Assembly election as the CPI(M) candidate for Dharmadom constituency and was selected as the leader of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and became the 12th Chief Minister of Kerala. He is the first chief minister from Kerala to be re-elected after completing a full term in office. In 2022,he also became the longest-continuous serving chief minister of Kerala surpassing C. Vijayaraghavan is an Indian politician belonging to the Communist Party of India (Marxist),and was the Convener of Left Democratic Front in Kerala and former Acting Secretary of CPI(M) Kerala State Committee. He was born at Malappuram. He was a Member of the Parliament of India representing Kerala in the Rajya Sabha,the upper house of the Parliament. He was the chairman of parliamentary committees on Subordinate Legislation and General Assurances,He was also the Chief Whip of CPI(M) in Rajya Sabha. Plathottathil Chacko George is an Indian politician. George is a seven-time and ex MLA of the Poonjar constituency in the Kottayam district of Kerala state (1982-87) and (1996-2022). He was in the Kerala Legislative Assembly for 33 years. After the legislative election 2016,he created his own party named as Kerala Janapaksham (Secular).
