In 2019, KT Jaleel had to resign from the Pinarayi cabinet after the Kerala Lokayukta found him guilty of nepotism [17] [18] and that he had ‘misused’ his official powers to appoint a family member in Kerala State Minorities Development Finance Corporation [19] [20] In 2018, Jaleel had appointed his close relative KT Adeeb [21] as General Manager of the KSMDFC, under the Ministry of Minority Welfare in Kerala. [22] [23] [24]

In 2020 there was an investigation of the illegal import of dates and religious texts through Diplomatic courier mailed to the UAE Consulate. [25] These emerged during a probe into the smuggling of 30 kg of gold through diplomatic cargo to the Consulate. [26] The National Investigation Agency (NIA) called Jaleel as a witness in the Gold smuggling case, [27] which has listed him as the 114th witness, had recorded his statements on September 17, 2020. [28] [29] [30] KT Jaleel's Kashmir-related Facebook post also led to controversy. [31]

Pinarayi Vijayan is an Indian politician who serves as the Chief Minister of Kerala since 25 May 2016. A member of the politburo of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), he is the longest-serving secretary of the Kerala State Committee of the CPI(M) (1998–2015). He has also served as Minister of Electric Power and Co-operatives during the third E. K. Nayanar ministry. Vijayan won a seat in the May 2016 Kerala Legislative Assembly election and 2021 Kerala Legislative Assembly election as the CPI(M) candidate for Dharmadom constituency and was selected as the leader of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and became the 12th Chief Minister of Kerala. He is the first chief minister from Kerala to be re-elected after completing a full term in office. In 2022, he also became the longest-continuous serving chief minister of Kerala surpassing C. Achutha Menon who had been the first to remain in office for 2364 consecutive days.

Thavanur is a village on the southern bank of the Bharathapuzha, the longest river of Kerala in the Malappuram District of Kerala state in India. The 2021 Kerala Legislative Assembly election was held in Kerala on 6 April 2021 to elect 140 members to the 15th Kerala Legislative Assembly. The results were declared on 2 May.

On 5 July 2020, 30 kilograms (66 lb) of 24 carat gold worth ₹14.82 crores was seized by Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs at Thiruvananthapuram Airport from a diplomatic bag that was meant to be delivered to the UAE Consulate in Thiruvananthapuram.

Elections to local bodies in Kerala were held in December 2020. Polling took place over 3 days; on 8, 10 and 14 December, with the votes counted and results announced on 16 December.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Kerala Lokayukta</span> Parliamentary ombudsman for Kerala, India

Kerala Lokayukta is the Parliamentary Ombudsman for the state of Kerala (India). It is a high level statutory functionary, created to address grievances of the public against ministers, legislators, administration and public servants in issues related to misuse of power, mal-administration and corruption. It was first formed under the Kerala Lokayukta and Upa-Lokayukta Act, and approved by the president of India on 4 March 1999. The passage of The Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act, 2013 in Parliament had become law from 16 January 2014 and requires each state to appoint its Lokayukta within a year. A bench of Lokayukta should consist of judicial and non-judicial members. An Upa-Lokayukta is a deputy to Lokayukta and assists him in his work and acts in-charge Lokayukta in case the position fells vacant before time.

Firos also known as PK Firos at Kunnamangalam, Kozhikode District, is an Indian politician and youth wing state leader of Muslim Youth League, politician from the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) party from Kerala. He is an advocate by profession and also currently serves as the General Secretary,MYL Kerala State Committee. he is Tanur constituency of iuml Candidate in 2021 at Tanur Assembly constituency Kerala Legislative Assembly He is also a digital influencer. He is a prominent political leader in Kerala politics. His involvement in Muslim League politics as a youth member is notable, and as a youth leader he organized strikes and protests against the anti-people stance of the ruling party.
