Cheranalloor Raveendranath is an Indian politician and is the former Minister for Education of the Government of Kerala in the first Pinarayi Vijayan Ministry. He is a Communist Party of India (Marxist) politician from Thrissur and the member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly from Puthukkad Assembly constituency since 2011. He is a retired chemistry professor of St. Thomas College, Thrissur.

He had also worked as the resource person of Total Literacy Programme, consultant to the State Planning Board, district convenor of People's Planning programme. Officials remember him tapping MLA-MP funds and three-tier panchayats for implementing projects in agriculture, horticulture, floriculture and in dairying. Some of the projects include ‘Nivedya Kadali' of providing bananas to Guruvayur temple, supplying organic vegetables to Oushadhi, a state government entity producing Ayurvedic medicines, Natural Fresh Milk Scheme for supply in Thrissur town. He also got as many as 150 classrooms in 79 schools converted into high-tech classrooms. [1]

Personal life

He was born to K. Peethambaran Kartha and C. Lekshmikutty Kunjamma on 22 November 1955. He has three siblings - two younger sisters named Sreeparvathi and Jayashree, and a younger brother named Mukundan. He is married to Prof. M. K. Vijayam and have two children, Dr Lakshmi Devi and Jayakrishnan. Prof. C. Raveendranath was active in Kerala Shastra Sahithya Parishad and AKPCTA during his academic life. [2] [3]

Career

He has a master's degree in Science and was a Chemistry professor in St. Thomas College, Thrissur. He is an active worker of the CPI(M), Area Committee Member and the Kerala Sastra Sahithya Parishad. [4] [5]

K. Karunakaran Indian politician and former Chief Minister of Kerala

Kannoth Karunakaran was an Indian politician and member of the Indian National Congress (INC). He served as the Chief Minister of Kerala four times: for a brief period from March 1977 to April 1977, another short term from December 1981 to March 1982, after which president's rule was invoked in the state, and subsequently served from May 1982 to May 1987, and eventually from June 1991 to May 1995. C. Achutha Menon Former chief minister of Kerala

Chelat Achutha Menon was the Chief Minister of Kerala state for two terms. The first term was from 1 November 1969 to 1 August 1970 and the second 4 October 1970 to 25 March 1977. He was instrumental in starting number of institutions and development projects in Kerala. Achutha Menon was the first politician who adorned the chief ministership of Kerala for two consecutive terms. He led the then United Front to a thumping electoral victory in Kerala when Congress party was routed in elections in other parts of India.

Moolayil Narayana Menon Vijayan, popularly known as Vijayan Mash was an Indian academic, orator, columnist and writer of Malayalam literature. Known for his leftist ideals and oratorical skills, Vijayan was the president of the Purogamana Kala Sahitya Sangham and served as the editor of Deshabhimani. He published a number of books of which Chithayile Velicham received the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Literary Criticism in 1982.

St. Thomas College, Thrissur College in Thrissur City, Kerala, India

St Thomas' College (Autonomous), Thrissur is a government aided college located in Thrissur City, the Cultural Capital of Kerala, India. Founded by Mar Adolph Medlycott in 1889, this college played a very important role in the development of the State. It is the oldest college in the erstwhile princely state of Cochin and present day Thrissur district. It is the second private college to be recognised as a first grade college under the University of Madras, in then existed princely states of Travancore, Cochin and Malabar which later became mostly the present geographical area of Kerala. It is the first Catholic college in Kerala and is conducted by the Syro-Malabar Catholic Archdiocese of Thrissur. Mar Andrews Thazhath is the Patron and Mar Tony Neelankavil is the Manager of the College now.
The college is affiliated with University of Calicut. The College attained Autonomous status in 2014 and was recognised as College with Potential for Excellence by University Grants Commission in 2016. The College was awarded A Grade in its third cycle of reaccreditation by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) after the peer team review in 2016.
