Assam University is a collegiate central public university located at Silchar, Assam, India. It was founded in the year 1994 by the provisions of an act enacted by the Parliament of India. Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha is the Chancellor, the Governor of Assam is the Chief Rector and the President of India is acting as the Visitor of the university. North Lakhimpur College is an autonomous college, affiliated to Dibrugarh University in North Lakhimpur on the north bank of the Brahmaputra river in upper Assam. North Lakhimpur college is the first autonomous college in Assam. The college was established in 1952. In 2012, North Lakhimpur College was accredited with an "A" grade by the NAAC with a CGPA of 3.08. On 30 May 2013, North Lakhimpur College received a letter from the University Grants Commission granting it the status of an autonomous college. North Lakhimpur College is the first college from Assam to receive this status from the UGC.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Dhakuakhana College</span> College in Assam

Dhakuakhana College was established in 1966 at Nabakatharbari, Dhakuakhana, about 2 km distant to the west from Dhakuakhana town. The college is affiliated to Dibrugarh University and is recognized by UGC under sections 2(f) and 12(B). The college was under the Deficit system of Grant in Aid in 1975 and was brought under the provincialised system by the Government of Assam in December, 2005. The current principal is Dr. Jugananda Sut and the vice principal is Chandra Sarma. The college campus is about 14.95 acres.
