Ramkrishna Nagar College, initially affiliated to Guwahati University and in 1994, it came under the affiliation of Assam University, Silchar. [1] It is a general degree college situated at Ramkrishna Nagar, in Karimganj, Assam, India.

The Barak Valley is the southernmost region and administrative division of the Indian state of Assam. It is named after the Barak river. The Barak valley consists of three administrative districts of Assam namely - Cachar, Karimganj, and Hailakandi. The main and largest city is Silchar, which seats the headquarter of Cachar district and also serves as administrative divisional office of Barak valley division. The valley is bordered by Mizoram and Tripura to the south, Bangladesh and Meghalaya to the west and Manipur to the east respectively. Once North Cachar Hills was a part of Cachar district which became a subdivision in 1951 and eventually a separate district. On 1 July 1983, Karimganj district was curved out from the eponymous subdivision of Cachar district. In 1989 the subdivision of Hailakandi was upgraded into Hailakandi district.

Assam University is a central public university located at Silchar, Assam, India. It was founded in the year 1994 by the provisions of an act enacted by the Parliament of India. Former Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha is the Chancellor, the Governor of Assam is the Chief Rector and the President of India is acting as the Visitor of the university. The university has sixteen schools which offer Humanities, Languages, Environmental Sciences, Information Sciences, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Social Sciences, Law, Technology and Management Studies. There are 42 departments under these sixteen schools. The five districts under the jurisdiction of Assam University have 73 undergraduate colleges as of 31 March 2020. Assam Combined Entrance Examination (Assam-CEE) is a state-government controlled centralized entrance examination, conducted by the Assam Science and Technology University for admission into the seven premier government engineering colleges in Assam. The test is taken after the 12th grade for admission to graduation courses. The exam can be taken by those who studied Pure Science stream in plus two level with the specific subjects tested in the examination, which are Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics. Every year approximately 25,000 - 40,000 students take the examination, and it is increasing every year. Students of both Assam Higher Secondary Education Council and the Central Board of Secondary Education board take the test. Formerly the examination was conducted by Dibrugarh University and since 2018 it is conducted by Assam Science & Technology University. It was previously known as the Assam Joint Admission Test (Assam-JAT) until the year 2012 and comprised both engineering and medical entrance examinations. Since then, the medical section of JAT was known as Assam Medical Entrance Examination (Assam-MEE).

Nabinchandra College, established in 1969, is a provincialized government degree college situated at Badarpur, in Karimganj district, Assam. This college is affiliated with the Assam University. The college offers various courses in all the streams namely Humanities, Science and Commerce. It has courses for Higher Secondary under Assam Higher Secondary Education Council(AHSEC) and the graduation courses are affiliated to Assam University, Silchar.
