She was a Manitoba cabinet minister in the government of Howard Pawley from 1986 to 1988, and was a member of the House of Commons of Canada from September 22, 1997, to April 30, 2010. Gurmant Singh Grewal is an Indo-Canadian politician and former Conservative Member of Parliament. Gurmant and his wife, Nina Grewal, who represented Fleetwood—Port Kells from 2004 to 2015, were the first married couple to serve in the House of Commons of Canada at the same time. First elected to the Canadian House of Commons on June 2, 1997 for the riding of Surrey Central and re-elected there on November 27, 2000, he represented the riding of Newton—North Delta from 2004 until 2005. Grewal announced that he would not be running in the 2006 federal election over a dispute of alleged offer of patronage with the Liberal Party, which was governing at that time.

In 2023, Erskine-Smith was a candidate in the 2023 Ontario Liberal Party leadership election, in which he ultimately came second to Bonnie Crombie with 46% of the vote, after third place candidate Yasir Naqvi asked his supporters to select Erskine-Smith as their number two choice under the terms of their agreement to block Crombie. The strategy failed, and Crombie won with 53.40% of the vote.

The SNC-Lavalin affair is a political scandal involving attempted political interference with the justice system by the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, and the Prime Minister's Office (PMO). The Parliament of Canada's Ethics Commissioner Mario Dion found that Trudeau improperly influenced then Minister of Justice and Attorney General Jody Wilson-Raybould to intervene in an ongoing criminal case against Quebec-based construction company SNC-Lavalin by offering a deferred prosecution agreement.

Kevin Vuong is a Canadian politician who is the member of Parliament (MP) for Spadina—Fort York. Nominated in the 2021 federal election as a Liberal candidate, he was dropped by the party two days prior to the election, and won his seat as an Independent candidate. Before entering politics, he worked in the business and finance industry and served as a reserve officer in the Royal Canadian Navy.
