Rakesh Shukla (born 1971 [1] [2] [3] ) is an Indian entrepreneur, motivational speaker, and animal welfare activist. He runs a home in Bangalore for over 700 rescued dogs. [1] [4] [2]

Early career

Shukla received a Bachelors of Engineering degree in Electronics and Communications, then a Masters in Business Administration. He then worked in various telecom companies[ specify ] in India, the US, and Singapore before becoming an entrepreneur. [5] [ better source needed ]

Shukla self-funded and created The Writers Block (TWB) in 2006, which provides technical writing programs. [6] [7] The company employs a large number of women who had left jobs to raise children. [8]

Animal welfare

Shukla founded Voice of Stray Dogs (VOSD). In July 2010, it was merely a website. [9]

In response to media reports of the July 2011 death of a two-year-old boy named Sandeep, supposedly killed and eaten by stray dogs, [3] Shukla carried out his own investigations at the site, persuading the authorities to do a second autopsy. [3] He eventually finding evidence against the dogs being responsible. [3] After this, Shukla held a press conference under VOSD's name. [3]

With the eventual death of Cookie, a paralyzed St. Bernard found in garbage in Bangalore in September 2012, [10] Shukla established an independently funded dog rescue home under the auspices of VOSD. [11] VOSD began rescuing injured or ill dogs on 15 October 2012 [9] and began emergency rescues on 16 October 2013. [12]

Recognition

For his work rescuing stray dogs, Shukla has been labeled "The Dogfather of India". [13] [3] He has appeared on television, radio, and newspaper interviews speaking on behalf of dogs, including BBC, [11] Al Jazeera, [14] CNN IBN, [15] NDTV, and TED. [16]

VOSD ran a 2017 program called "PatriotDogs", which provides homes for dogs retiring from the Indian security and military forces. It got support from celebrities Virat Kohli [17] and Soha Ali Khan Pataudi, [18] and appeared in publications Times of India , [19] the New Indian Express , [20] MTV India, [21] and the Deccan Chronicle . Shukla was named one of Bangalore's Heroes in 2013. [3] He features in the book Real Inspiring Stories by Pradeep Khare. [23]

The National Cricket Academy (NCA) is a cricket facility of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in Bengaluru, India, for the purpose of developing young cricketers who have been identified as having the potential to represent the Indian cricket team. It was established in 2000 and is located near to the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium The facility is also used for the rehabilitation of injured players.

International Animal Rescue (IAR) is an animal protection and conservation non-profit organisation that comes to the aid of suffering animals with hands-on rescue and rehabilitation and the protection of wildlife habitats. Its work includes cutting free and caring for captive bears in India and Armenia, rescuing and rehabilitating orangutans and other primates in Indonesia and treating injured and orphaned howler monkeys in Costa Rica. IAR strives to educate the public in the humane treatment of all animals and the preservation of the natural environment. International Animal Rescue has offices in the United Kingdom, United States, India, Indonesia and Malta.

The organisation offers a CRM based contact, retrieval and tracking system and advanced veterinary care free of cost to stray dogs of Bengaluru. It also runs dog birth control clinics.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are a franchise cricket team based in Hyderabad, India, which plays in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The 2016 Indian Premier League final was a day/night Twenty20 cricket match on 29 May 2016 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore, which was played between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore to determine the winner of the 2016 season of the Indian Premier League, an annual Twenty20 cricket tournament in India. In case play was not completed on 29 May, the Final would have resumed on 30 May, the allotted reserve day.

The Sri Lanka cricket team toured India in November and December 2017. The original schedule had the tour consisting of three Tests, five One Day Internationals (ODIs) and one Twenty20 International (T20I) match starting in February 2018.

1888 is a 2023 Indian thriller film shot using Guerrilla filmmaking technique. It is a multiple international award winning independent Kannada film with demonetization as the backdrop. More than 60% of the film is shot at night. Neethu Shetty plays an important character along with Prathap Kumar, Adhvithi Shetty, Manju Raj, Pradeep Doddaiah and Vikram Kumar. The 2020 season was the 13th season for the IPL cricket franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore. They were one of the eight teams to compete in the tournament.

The Australia cricket team toured India in January 2020 to play three One Day International (ODI) matches. Normally, Australia would have played the matches at home, but international fixture congestion caused the ODIs to be brought forward. India won the series 2–1, after losing the opening match by ten wickets. During the third and final ODI of the series, Virat Kohli scored his 11,208th run across all formats as a captain in international cricket, the most by a batsman for India.

<i>Bow Bow</i> 2019 Tamil film

Bow Bow is a 2019 Tamil-language film directed by Pradeep Kilikar, who previously worked as an assistant director for Azhagesan. The film stars Master Ahaan and a Labrador and the plot revolves around their relationship.

The 2021 season was the 14th season for the IPL cricket franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore.They were one of the eight teams competed in the tournament. The team was captained by Virat Kohli with Mike Hesson as a team coach. After qualifying for the playoffs, they were eliminated from the tournament as they were beaten by Kolkata Knight Riders in the Eliminator match.
