Ramesh Chand Meena (born 15 January 1963) is an Indian politician and has Former Cabinet Minister Panchayati Raj & Rural development Government of Rajasthan and also member of 13th, 14th and 15th Legislative Assembly of Rajasthan. He currently represents Sapotra (Assembly constituency) as a member of Indian National Congress. [2] [3] [4] [5] [6]

Early life and education

Mr. Ramesh Meena was born 15 January 1963 in the Nayagaon village in Mandrayal tehsil of Karauli district of Rajasthan to his father Shankar Lal Meena. In 1995, he married Smt Kamlesh Meena. In 1993, he attended University of Rajasthan and attained Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) degree. He is a contractor by profession. [1]

Political career

Mr. Ramesh Meena has been MLA three times. He started his political career in 1993 elections as an Independent candidate but lost and stood third with 18,071 (25.21%) votes. And again contested in 1998 elections, but again he lost and stood fourth with 7,504 (9.74%) votes. After two time failure he was finally elected MLA in 2008 Rajasthan Legislative Assembly election from Sapotra (Assembly constituency) as a member of Bahujan Samaj Party, he defeated Indian National Congress candidate Mukhraj by a margin of 8,329 (7.18%) votes. He has given open support to INC government and joined Indian National Congress in 2013. [7]

In 14th Legislative Assembly of Rajasthan (2013) elections, he was again elected MLA as a member of Indian National Congress, he defeated Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Rishikesh by a margin of 6,232 (4.36%) votes. [8]

In 15th Legislative Assembly of Rajasthan (2018) elections, he was elected for a third time continuously Member of Legislative Assembly of Sapotra by defeating Bharatiya Janta Party candidate Golma Devi Meena by a margin of 14,104 (8.26%) votes. [9]

In December 2018, he was appointed Cabinet Minister in third Ashok Gehlot ministry with portfolios of Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs. [10] [11] [12] [13]

Golma Devi Meena is a member of the 14th Rajasthan Legislative Assembly. She represents the Rajgarh Laxmangarh constituency of Alwar district in the Indian state of Rajasthan. In the 2013 state assembly elections, she defeated Surajbhan Dhanka of the Samajwadi Party with a margin of 8,128 votes. She was an independent candidate in 2008 Rajasthan Legislative Assembly election from Mahwa and minister of state for Khadi and village industries in the government headed by Ashok Gehlot in 2009 but quit the post after four months. Murari Lal Meena is an Indian politician, serving as a member of Rajasthan Legislative Assembly from Dausa Constituency since 2018. He previously served as an MLA from the Bandikui constituency from 2003 to 2008 and subsequently from the Dausa constituency from 2008 to 2013. On 12 July 2020, around 19 members of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, as claimed by the then Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan Sachin Pilot, flew to Delhi after disputes over different offices between rival factions of the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee, starting a governmental crisis in the state of Rajasthan.

Pana Chand Meghwal is an Indian politician from the Indian National Congress and former member of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly. He is elected to represent the Baran-Atru Constituency. He wrote an application for resignation from the Rajasthan Assembly on 15 August, 2022. Miffed over cases of alleged atrocities on Dalits, Congress MLA Pana Chand Meghwal sent his resignation to Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, stating that he does not have the right to remain as an MLA if he cannot protect the rights of his community. However, his resignation was not accepted, and he continues to serve as an MLA.

Madan Prajapat is an Indian politician from Rajasthan who has served in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly since 2018. He previously served in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly from 2008 to 2013. Prajapat represents Pachpadra as a member of the Indian National Congress.
