Red Square Classic

The Red Square Classic and the Moscow Classic are annual bonspiels (curling tournaments) on the men's World Curling Tour (WCT). The Red Square Classic is played outdoors at Red Square, [1] while the Moscow Classic is played at the New League curling club in Moscow, Russia. Both events are held in early February within a week of each other.

Contents

The Red Square Classic ran as a solo event from 2014 to 2017. It was replaced by the Moscow Classic in 2018. In 2019, the event returned to Red Square, and in 2020 both events were held for the first time. In 2021, the events were cancelled and replaced by a mixed doubles event.

Moscow first held a mixed doubles tour event in December 2019 called the ISS WCT Moscow Mixed Doubles.

Johan Niklas Edin is a Swedish curler. He currently resides in Karlstad, which has been his curling home base since 2008. He holds several sport distinctions. He is the first and the only skip in World Curling Federation (WCF) history to win three Olympic medals – gold (2022), silver (2018), and bronze (2014) – and to skip men's curling teams to six World Men's Curling Championship medals. He is also a seven-time European Curling Championship titleholder and won three silver medals in those championships. As of the end of the 2021–22 Curling Season, Team Edin was ranked in the top three teams in the world.

The Canad Inns Men's Classic is an annual curling tournament, held in October at the Portage Curling Club in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. It is part of the World Curling Tour. The purse for the event $60,000. Except for the Grand Slam events, it is currently the men's WCT event with the highest purse.

The Prism Flow Red Deer Curling Classic is an annual bonspiel, or curling tournament, that takes place at the Red Deer Curling Club in Red Deer, Alberta. The tournament is held in a triple-knockout format. The men's tournament started in 1992 as a skins tournament. The women's tournament started in 1999 as a separate event held a few weeks earlier and merged with the men's event in 2007. The event was held as a World Curling Tour event until 2019 and has been held nearly every year since 2007. Curlers from Alberta have dominated the event on both sides since its inception. The event counts toward the Canadian Team Ranking System, which hands out points based on performances at CTRS events and deals with qualification to the Canadian Olympic Curling Trials.

The Curve US Open of Curling is an annual bonspiel, or curling tournament, held at the Four Seasons Curling Club in Blaine, Minnesota. It was held as part of the men's World Curling Tour from 2014 to 2019 and as part of the women's WCT from 2016 to 2019, though women's teams were invited to participate in the 2014 event. The WCT Latvian Mixed Doubles Curling Cup is an annual mixed doubles curling series on the ISS Mixed Doubles World Curling Tour. There are two events held annually, usually held a week apart in April. They take place at the Kērlinga halle in Riga, Latvia. For the 2020–21 curling season, the first event was held in November 2020, while the second event was held in April 2021. For the 2021–22 curling season, the first event was held in November 2021, while the second event was held in April 2022.
