The University of Mysore is a public state university in Mysore, Karnataka, India. The university was founded during the reign of Krishnaraja Wadiyar IV, the Maharaja of Mysore. The university is recognised by the University Grants Commission for offering higher studies degree courses on-campus as well as online. It was inaugurated on 27 July 1916. Its first chancellor was the Maharaja of Mysore; the first Vice-Chancellor was H. V. Nanjundaiah. The university became the first outside of British administration in India, the sixth in India as a whole, and the first in Karnataka. It is a state university of the affiliating type, and became autonomous on 3 March 1956, when it gained recognition from the University Grants Commission.
National Institute of Technology Srinagar is a public technical university located in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is one of the 31 National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and as such is directly under the control of the Ministry of Education (MoE). It was established in 1960 as one of several Regional Engineering Colleges established as part of the Second Five Year Plan (1956–61) by the Government of India. Ahalya Chari was an Indian educationist and the first commissioner of the Kendriya Vidyalaya chain of schools, a system of education under the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) India. Her efforts are recognised towards the establishment of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, an autonomous body under the MHRD, attending to the educational needs of the children of transferable central government employees. The Government of India awarded her the fourth highest Indian civilian honour of the Padma Shri in 1983.
Demonstration Multipurpose School (DMS), Mysore now officially known as Demonstration School, Mysore is one of the four schools which are spread across four cities in India. Demonstration School is a coeducational school for day scholars in Mysore, India, founded by the Regional Institute of Education as a laboratory for the preparation of teachers and for trying out innovative practices in school education and teacher education. The school is surrounded by educational institutes like Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering, All India Institute of Speech and Hearing, and Gangothri School, and is spread over 120 acres of land in the city of Mysore. School heads in the early days included T.G. Sathyanarayana and Nagaraja Chitradurga. The current head is Kalpana Venugopal.
