Rhett Lashlee (born June 9, 1983) is an American college football coach who is the head coach at Southern Methodist University. He previously served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Auburn University from 2013 to 2016 and offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University of Miami from 2020 to 2021.
Lashlee played college football at the University of Arkansas as a quarterback from 2002 to 2004. Prior to his tenure at SMU, he held various assistant coaching positions at Springdale High School in Springdale, Arkansas, the University of Arkansas, Auburn University, Samford University, Arkansas State University, University of Connecticut, SMU, and the University of Miami.
Lashlee attended Shiloh Christian School in Springdale, Arkansas, [1] where he played quarterback under head coach Gus Malzahn. Lashlee posted a state-record 40 career wins (40–3–2 as a starter) and he led his team to three straight state championship games, winning two titles. [2]

Regarded as a three-star recruit by Rivals.com, Lashlee was ranked as the No. 19 pro-style quarterback in a 2002 class that also featured Ben Olson, Trent Edwards, Drew Stanton, and Matt Moore. [4]
Lashlee played college football for the Arkansas Razorbacks. Lashlee was a backup quarterback to Matt Jones, from 2002 to 2004 for the Razorbacks. A shoulder injury ended his playing career. [5] Lashlee graduated from the University of Arkansas in 2006. [6]
Prior to 2017, Lashlee is from Gus Malzahn coaching tree and worked under him for his entire career with the exception of his one year at Samford University.
From 2004 to 2005, Lashlee worked with the quarterbacks at Springdale High School. [2] Following the announcement of Malzahn's hire as Arkansas Razorbacks offensive coordinator in 2006, Lashlee was hired as an offensive graduate assistant. [2] Following this season, Malzahn left to become the offensive coordinator of the Tulsa Golden Hurricane football team. Although invited to join Malzahn's staff at Tulsa, Lashlee left coaching and remained in Northwest Arkansas. Instead, Lashlee and his brother-in-law wrote, published, and marketed High School Sports The Magazine (later renamed Vype), a publication based on high school sports in Arkansas. During the two years Lashlee was involved in the business, he made relationships with high school coaches throughout Arkansas and marketed his magazine to distributors. Lashlee volunteered as quarterbacks coach at Har-Ber High School when his schedule would allow. [7] Malzahn was hired as the offensive coordinator at Auburn for the 2009 season. Following this announcement, Malzahn offered Lashlee to join his staff as a graduate assistant, returning Lashlee to coaching. [2]
In 2011, Lashlee joined Samford University as their offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. During his first and only season at Samford, Lashlee improved the team's offense in points per game (17 to 26), total offense (57 to 46 ranking nationally), and improved their record from 4–6 to 6–5 through the installation of a high tempo offense. In 2012, Lashlee was hired by Arkansas State University as their offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach following head coach Gus Malzahn after his departure from Auburn. [2]
On December 6, 2012, Lashlee was hired at Auburn University as their offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach following Gus Malzahn after his return to Auburn after one year at Arkansas State. [5] [8] [9] In 2013, Lashlee was a finalist for the Broyles Award, given annually to the nation's top college football assistant coach.
In 2017, Lashlee joined the University of Connecticut as their offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
On January 4, 2018, Lashlee was hired as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Southern Methodist University (SMU). [10]
On January 3, 2020, Lashlee was hired as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University of Miami under head coach Manny Diaz.
On November 30, 2021, Lashlee was named head coach at Southern Methodist University (SMU), replacing Sonny Dykes after his departure to become the head coach at Texas Christian University (TCU). [11]
Lashlee is a Christian. [12] He is married to Lauren Lashlee (née Lee), and they have four children together.

Houston Dale Nutt Jr. is a former American college football coach and player. He formerly worked for CBS Sports as a college football studio analyst. Previously, he served as the head football coach at Murray State University (1993–1996), Boise State University (1997), the University of Arkansas (1998–2007), and the University of Mississippi (2008–2011). Nutt's all-time career winning percentage is just under 59 percent.
Mitchell Stewart Mustain is an American former professional football player. He played high school football and baseball at Springdale High School in Springdale, Arkansas. Mustain played his first year of college football at the University of Arkansas in 2006 before transferring to the University of Southern California (USC) in 2007. Under NCAA transfer rules, he sat out the 2007 season and started playing for USC in the 2008 season. Mustain graduated from USC in 2010, and proceeded to have a professional football career in the AFL. He did not play baseball in college, opting instead to pursue a football career. Despite this, Mustain would briefly play in Minor League Baseball in 2012.
The Arkansas Razorbacks football program represents the University of Arkansas in the sport of American football. The Razorbacks compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and is a member of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Home games are played at stadiums on or near the two largest campuses of the University of Arkansas System: Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville and War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock. Sam Pittman is the head coach and has served since 2020.
Arthur Gustav Malzahn III is an American football coach. He is currently the head coach at the University of Central Florida (UCF). He was the head football coach at Auburn University from 2013 to 2020. He helped lead the 2010 Auburn Tigers to a national championship. As head coach at Auburn, he led the team to a SEC Championship win and an appearance in the 2014 national championship. Malzahn has coached Heisman winner Cam Newton and two Heisman finalists: Nick Marshall and Tre Mason, including coaching 14 All-Americans. During Malzahn's tenure at Auburn, he was the second-longest tenured head coach at one school in the SEC, behind Nick Saban. Out of active head coaches, Malzahn also holds the best record against Coach Saban.
Kodi Burns is an American football coach who was most recently the wide receivers coach for the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League (NFL). He was previously the wide receivers coach at the University of Tennessee and Auburn University, where he played college football first as a quarterback and later as a wide receiver winning a national championship in 2010.
Wildcat formation describes a formation for the offense in football in which the ball is snapped not to the quarterback but directly to a player of another position lined up at the quarterback position. The wildcat features an unbalanced offensive line and looks to the defense like a sweep behind zone blocking. A player moves across the formation prior to the snap. However, once this player crosses the position of the running back who will receive the snap, the play develops unlike the sweep.
Damian Williams is an American former professional football player who was a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL) from 2010 through 2014. He played college football for the Arkansas Razorbacks and USC Trojans. Selected in the third round of the 2010 NFL draft, he played in the league for the Tennessee Titans, Miami Dolphins, and St. Louis Rams.

Jeff Grimes is an American football coach, and the offensive coordinator for the Kansas Jayhawks. He was previously the offensive coordinator at both Baylor University and Brigham Young University (BYU), Louisiana State University's (LSU) offensive line coach and run game coordinator, and the offensive line coach at both Virginia Tech (2013) and Auburn University. In addition, he was the assistant head coach, run game coordinator and offensive line coach at the University of Colorado, BYU's offensive line coach, offensive line coach and run game coordinator at Arizona State University (ASU), and offensive line coach at Boise State University (BSU) (2000).
Casey Woods is an American football coach and former player. He is currently the offensive coordinator and tight ends coach at Southern Methodist University. Woods played wide receiver at the University of Tennessee.
Bryan Dale Harsin is an American football coach who was most recently the head coach for the Auburn Tigers. Prior to coaching at Auburn, he coached the Boise State University Broncos from the 2014 season through the 2020 season where he posted a 69–19 overall record. He began his head coaching career at Arkansas State University for the 2013 season. Harsin was the co-offensive coordinator at the University of Texas for two seasons. Before leaving for Texas in 2011, Harsin was an assistant at Boise State for 10 seasons, the last five as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
Scot Loeffler is an American football coach and former player. He is currently the head coach at Bowling Green State University. He formerly served as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Boston College. He was previously the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Virginia Tech, having previously held the same role at Auburn University under head coach Gene Chizik. Prior to joining Auburn, Loeffler served as offensive coordinator for Temple. He has spent over a decade coaching quarterbacks, primarily in the Big Ten and Southeastern conferences. On November 28, 2018, Loeffler was named head coach at BGSU.
Chad Allen Morris is an American football coach. He served as the head football coach at Southern Methodist University (SMU) from 2015 to 2017 and the University of Arkansas from 2018 to 2019.
Eliah Drinkwitz is an American football coach. He is the head coach of the Missouri Tigers in Columbia, Missouri, a position he has held since the 2020 season. Drinkwitz previously served as the head coach of the Appalachian State Mountaineers in 2019; prior to this, he was an assistant coach for the North Carolina State Wolfpack, the Boise State Broncos, the Arkansas State Red Wolves, and the Auburn Tigers.
