The Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy,also known as Heinz College,is the public policy and information college of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh,Pennsylvania. It consists of the School of Information Systems and Management and the School of Public Policy and Management. The college is named after CMU's former instructor and the later U.S. Senator John Heinz from Pennsylvania.
In polymer chemistry,living polymerization is a form of chain growth polymerization where the ability of a growing polymer chain to terminate has been removed. This can be accomplished in a variety of ways. Chain termination and chain transfer reactions are absent and the rate of chain initiation is also much larger than the rate of chain propagation. The result is that the polymer chains grow at a more constant rate than seen in traditional chain polymerization and their lengths remain very similar. Living polymerization is a popular method for synthesizing block copolymers since the polymer can be synthesized in stages,each stage containing a different monomer. Additional advantages are predetermined molar mass and control over end-groups.

Jean M.J. Fréchet is a French-American chemist and professor emeritus at the University of California,Berkeley. He is best known for his work on polymers including polymer-supported chemistry,chemically amplified photoresists,dendrimers,macroporous separation media,and polymers for therapeutics. Ranked among the top 10 chemists in 2021,he has authored nearly 900 scientific paper and 200 patents including 96 US patents. His research areas include organic synthesis and polymer chemistry applied to nanoscience and nanotechnology with emphasis on the design,fundamental understanding,synthesis,and applications of functional macromolecules.
Carl Shipp "Speed" Marvel was an American chemist who specialized in polymer chemistry. He made important contributions to U.S. synthetic rubber program during World War II,and later worked at developing polybenzimidazoles,temperature-resistant polymers that are used in the aerospace industry,in fire-fighting equipment,and as a replacement for asbestos. He has been described as "one of the world's outstanding organic chemists" and received numerous awards,including the 1956 Priestley Medal and the 1986 National Medal of Science,presented by President Ronald Reagan.
In organic chemistry,the Kumada coupling is a type of cross coupling reaction,useful for generating carbon–carbon bonds by the reaction of a Grignard reagent and an organic halide. The procedure uses transition metal catalysts,typically nickel or palladium,to couple a combination of two alkyl,aryl or vinyl groups. The groups of Robert Corriu and Makoto Kumada reported the reaction independently in 1972.

David A. Tirrell is an American chemist and the Ross McCollum-William H. Corcoran Professor and professor of chemistry and chemical engineering at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). A pioneer in the areas of polymer synthesis and protein biosynthesis,his research has a wide range of applications,including coatings,adhesion,lubrication,bioengineering and biomedical intervention. From 2012 to 2018,Tirrell was the director of the Beckman Institute at Caltech. As of 2017,he serves as Caltech's Provost. He is one of very few American scientists to have been elected to all three branches of the United States National Academies:the National Academy of Sciences (2006),the National Academy of Engineering (2008),and the Institute of Medicine (2011). He was elected a Member of the American Philosophical Society in 2019.

His research interests lie in the synthesis of biologically-active natural products and optoelectronic polymers.
Angel G. Jordan was a Spanish-born American electronics and computer engineer known as the founder of the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) and co-founder of the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) and served on its faculty for 55 years,since 2003 as Emeritus. Valerie Sheares Ashby is an American chemist and university professor who currently serves as president of the University of Maryland,Baltimore County. She was the Dean of Trinity College of Arts and Sciences at Duke University from 2015 to 2022 and formerly chair of the chemistry department at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 2012 to 2015. With her research group,she holds ten patents. On April 4,2022,it was announced that Ashby would assume the position of president of the University of Maryland,Baltimore County.

Malika Jeffries-EL is an American chemist and professor of chemistry at Boston University studying organic semiconductors. Specifically,her research focuses on developing organic semiconductors that take advantage of the processing power of polymers and the electronic properties of semiconductors to create innovative electronic devices. She was elected as a Fellow of the American Chemical Society in 2018.

Beers is Leader of the Polymers and Complex Fluids group in the Materials Science and Engineering Division at the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Her research interests include microreactors and microfluidics,advances in polymer synthesis and reaction monitoring,macromolecular separations,integrated and high throughput measurements of polymeric materials,degradable and renewable polymeric materials,and sustainable materials.
Nancy Sarah Goroff is an American organic chemist who formerly served as chair of the chemistry department at Stony Brook University. Her research investigates conjugated organic molecules,including polymers,halocarbons and buckyballs. During the 2020 United States elections Goroff ran to represent New York's 1st congressional district,and was defeated by the incumbent,Lee Zeldin.
Vitaliy Khutoryanskiy FRSC is a British and Kazakhstani scientist,a Professor of Formulation Science and a Royal Society Industry Fellow at the University of Reading. His research focuses on polymers,biomaterials,nanomaterials,drug delivery,and pharmaceutical sciences. Khutoryanskiy has published over 200 original research articles,book chapters,and reviews. His publications have attracted >11000 citations and his current h-index is 50. He received several prestigious awards in recognition for his research in polymers,colloids and drug delivery as well as for contributions to research peer-review and mentoring of early career researchers. He holds several honorary professorship titles from different universities.
