The East African Community (EAC) is an intergovernmental organisation composed of eight countries in East Africa. The member states are the Democratic Republic of the Congo,the Federal Republic of Somalia,the Republics of Burundi,Kenya,Rwanda,South Sudan,Uganda and Tanzania. Salva Kiir Mayardit,the president of South Sudan,is the current EAC chairman. The organisation was founded in 1967,collapsed in 1977,and was revived on 7th July 2000. The main objective of the EAC was to foster regional economic integration.
Makerere University is Uganda's largest and oldest institution of higher learning,first established as a technical school in 1922,and the oldest currently active university in East Africa. It became an independent national university in 1970. Today,Makerere University is composed of nine colleges and one school offering programmes for about 36,000 undergraduates and 4,000 postgraduates. These colleges include College of Natural Sciences (CONAS),College of Health Sciences (CHS),College of Engineering Art &Design (CEDAT),College of Agriculture and Environmental Studies (CAES),College Of Business and Management Sciences (CoBAMS),College of Humanities &Social Sciences (CHUSS),College of Computing and Information Sciences (COCIS),College of Veterinary Medicine,Animal Resources &Bio-security (COVAB),College of Education and External Studies (CEES) and Makerere University Business School (MUBS). In addition,Makerere has onother campus in Eastern Uganda Jinja City.
Speciosa Naigaga Wandira Kazibwe,is a Ugandan politician and first female vice president in Africa. She was the sixth vice president of Uganda from 1994 to 2003,making her the first woman in Africa to hold the position of vice-president of a sovereign nation. Dr. Speciosa Kazibwe is also a Ugandan surgeon. She is also referred to as "Nnalongo",because of her twins. In August 2013,she was appointed by United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon as United Nations Special Envoy for HIV/AIDS in Africa.
Beatrice Mukaye Wabudeya is a Ugandan veterinarian and politician. She is the former Minister for Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA),in the Ugandan Cabinet,from 17 March 2011 until 27 May 2011. Prior to that,she served as the Minister for the Presidency,from 2006 until May 2011. In the cabinet reshuffle of 27 May 2011,she was replaced at the Ministry for the Presidency by Kabakumba Masiko. She formerly served as the Member of Parliament (MP),representing Sironko District Women's Constituency from 2001 until 2011.
Louise Mushikiwabo is the fourth and current Secretary General of the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie. She previously served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Rwanda from 2009 to 2018. She also served as Government Spokesperson. She had previously been Minister of Information.
Rosemary Museminali is a Rwandan politician and diplomat,currently working for the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS),as its representative at the African Union and United Nations Economic Commission for Africa. Museminali is best known for her role as the Rwandan Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation from 2005 until 2009. She has also served as the country's Minister of State for International Cooperation and as ambassador to the United Kingdom.
Margaret Nantongo Zziwa is a Ugandan politician and legislator. She served as the Speaker of the 3rd East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) in Arusha,Tanzania. She was elected to serve in that capacity in June 2012. She was impeached and voted out of office on 17 December 2014,on charges of misconduct and abuse of office,but was later awarded compensation for illegal removal.
The Cabinet of Rwanda consists of the Prime Minister,Ministers,Ministers of State and other members nominated by the President. Members of Cabinet are selected from political organisations based on the number of seats they hold in the Chamber of Deputies,but members of Cabinet cannot themselves belong to the Chamber.
The Kenya–Uganda–Rwanda Petroleum Products Pipeline is a pipeline that carries refined petroleum products from the Kenyan port city of Mombasa to the country's capital of Nairobi and continues to the city of Eldoret in the Eastern Rift Valley. There are plans to extend the pipeline to Uganda's capital,Kampala,continuing on to Rwanda's capital,Kigali.
Fred Mukasa Mbidde is a Ugandan lawyer,human-rights activist,mass communication specialist,motivational speaker and politician. He is an elected member of the 3rd East African Legislative Assembly (EALA),representing the Republic of Uganda. He has been in this office since June 2012. He serves on three EALA committees:the Committee on Communication,Trade and Investments;the Committee on Legal,Rules and Privileges;and the Committee on Regional Affairs and Conflict Resolution. He is the chairperson of the Committee on Communication,Trade and Investments.
Oliver Wonekha is a Ugandan politician and diplomat,who serves as Uganda's Ambassador to the People's Republic of China,since 2022. He previously served as the country's Ambassador to the United States of America,from 2013,until 2017 and thereafter as Uganda's High Commissioner to the Republic Of Rwanda between 2017 and 2022.
Chris Baryomunsi is a Ugandan physician,public health specialist,demographer,and politician. He is the Minister for ICT and National Guidance in the Cabinet of Uganda. He was appointed to that position in 2021. From 1 March 2015 until 6 June 2016,he served as State Minister of Health for General Duties.

He was the Secretary General of the East African Community (EAC) from 2 March 2016 to 25 April 2021,replacing Richard Sezibera.
Rosmary Mbabazi,is a businesswoman and politician in Rwanda,who has served as the Cabinet Minister for Youth and culture in the Rwandan cabinet,since 31 August 2017.
Lydia Wanyoto Mutende,is a Ugandan lawyer,politician and diplomat,who served as the Deputy Special Representative of the Chairperson of African Union Commission (DSRCC),based in Addis Ababa,Ethiopia. From July 2014 until August 2014,she temporarily served as Head of the African Union Mission to Somalia.
Lorna Magara is the first woman to be elected chairperson of the Makerere University Council,since the founding of the university in 1922. She was elected to a renewable four-year term,effective 20 December 2018. The Council is a 27-member body that serves as the supreme governing organ of Uganda's largest and oldest public university.

Misaki Wayengera is a Ugandan physician,academician,and a medical researcher. He serves as a lecturer for Pathology,Immunology and Molecular Biology at Makerere University College of Health Sciences. He is the chairperson of Uganda's Scientific Advisory Committee on COVID-19 for the Ministry of Health and the National Task Force.
Peter Mutuku Mathuki is a Kenyan diplomat,private sector development expert,and former Secretary-General of the East African Community who currently holds the position as Ambassador of Kenya to Russia. He previously served as the 6th Secretary-General of the EAC from 27 February 2021 to June 7 2024,an MP in the East African Legislative Assembly between 2012 and 2017,and the CEO of the East African Business Council from 2018 to 2021.
