Richelle Cranston (born 28 September 1989) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Melbourne, Geelong and the Western Bulldogs in the AFL Women's (AFLW).
Cranston grew up in New Zealand and then Maryborough, Victoria [1] to New Zealand parents. She has Maori heritage and grew up playing American Football. [2] [3]
She did not begin playing Australian Football until year 12. In 2011 she started with the North Ballarat Football Club and won the Kate Lawrence Medal in 2011 and 2012. [4] She kicked 39 goals in her second season with the club playing at full forward. Cranston went on to represent Vic Country in 2014.
Cranston played senior gridiron with the Geelong Buccaneers as a fullback and tailback. She was the MVP for Gridiron Victoria in 2015 [5] and was part of the team's back to back Vic Bowl sides and was their most valuable player in 2016. She also represented Victoria in the state's first ever representative women's team and made national selection. [6]
She also played at North Geelong Football Club and later the Western Bulldogs team from 2016/17 during the trial matches prior to the commencement of the AFLW.
Cranston was drafted by Melbourne with their third selection and twenty-fourth overall in the 2016 AFL Women's draft. [7] She made her debut in the fifteen-point loss to Brisbane at Casey Fields in the opening round of the 2017 season. [8] She was suspended for one match after her debut match due to front on contact with Brisbane's Jamie Stanton. [9] After returning from suspension, she played every match for the year to finish with six games. [10]
Melbourne signed Cranston for the 2018 season during the trade period in May 2017. [11]
In May 2018 Cranston accepted an offer from expansion club Geelong to play with the club in the 2019 AFLW season. [12] Cranston also played for Geelong's VFL Women's team for the 2018 season, and she won the club's 2018 best and fairest award. [13]
In June 2021, Cranston was delisted by Geelong. [14] A fortnight later, she was signed by the Western Bulldogs as a delisted free agent. [15] She kept her preferred number of #30 as her guernsey number. [16]
She retired at the end of the 2023 season, having played 60 AFLW games and scored 31 goals. [17]

Katie Brennan is an Australian rules footballer with and captain of the Richmond Football Club in the AFL Women's (AFLW). She previously played for and captained the Western Bulldogs from 2017 to 2019. Brennan was signed as a marquee player by the Bulldogs ahead of the inaugural AFL Women's season in 2017, and was their leading goalkicker in 2019.

Stephanie Chiocci is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the St Kilda Football Club and Collingwood Football Club in the AFL Women's (AFLW). Chiocci served as Collingwood captain for the duration of her Collingwood career from 2017 to 2022 (S7), including as co-captain alongside Brianna Davey from 2021 to season seven, following which she moved to St Kilda.
Emma Michelle Kearney is an Australian rules footballer and former cricketer. A decorated midfielder in the AFL Women's (AFLW) competition, Kearney won the league's best and fairest award while playing for the Western Bulldogs in 2018 and has captained North Melbourne since 2019. She previously played cricket for the Melbourne Stars in the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) and for Victoria in the Women's National Cricket League (WNCL).
Melissa Hickey is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Melbourne Football Club and the Geelong Football Club in the AFL Women's (AFLW). She served as Geelong captain in the club's first two AFL Women's seasons. She also played in the Victorian Women's Football League/VFL Women's for eleven seasons, representing the St Albans Spurs, Darebin and Geelong. In the VWFL/VFLW, Hickey won seven premierships, represented Victoria on three occasions and featured in the VFL Women's team of the year.
Karen "Paxy" Paxman is an Australian rules footballer playing for the Melbourne Football Club in the AFL Women's (AFLW). A defender, 1.70 metres (5.6 ft) tall, Paxman plays primarily on the half-back line with the ability to push into the midfield. She first played football at sixteen years of age and won a premiership and league best and fairest in her first year. She played in the premier division of the Victorian Women's Football League (VWFL) from the 2008 season and won three VWFL premierships with St Albans and Darebin, in addition to a VFL Women's premiership with Darebin. Her accolades in football include three league best and fairests, state representation on four occasions, best-on-ground in a grand final, and five-time AFLW All-Australian honours.

Alison Brown is an Australian rules footballer who plays for Melbourne in the AFL Women's competition (AFLW). She was recruited by Carlton as a free agent following the 2016 AFL Women's draft. She made her debut in Round 1, 2017, in the club and the league's inaugural match at Ikon Park against Collingwood. Brown finished 2017 having played in all seven possible matches with Carlton. She was subsequently delisted at season's end. On 29 January 2019, Brown was announced as the first AFLW signing for the St Kilda Football Club Women's Team, who officially entered the AFL Women's competition in 2020. In March 2021, St Kilda announced they delisted Brown after playing 11 matches for the club. In the 2021 AFL Women's draft, Melbourne drafted her with the 45th pick after she played 12 games for Casey Demons in the VFL Women's. She was educated at Caulfield Grammar School. In December 2022, Brown was delisted by Melbourne.
Meghan McDonald is an Australian rules footballer with the Geelong Football Club in the AFL Women's competition (AFLW). She previously played with the Western Bulldogs in the 2017 season. McDonald was recruited by the Western Bulldogs as a free agent in November 2016. She made her debut in the seven point loss to Collingwood at VU Whitten Oval in round four of the 2017 season. She played four matches in her debut season and kicked one goal. She was delisted at the conclusion of the 2017 season. In September 2018 she accepted a contract with Geelong to play in the club's inaugural season in the AFLW in 2019. She was awarded Geelong's best and fairest medal in her debut season at the club. In December 2020, McDonald was announced as Geelong's captain, replacing Melissa Hickey who retired at the end of the 2020 season. In the 2021 AFL Women's season, McDonald was awarded with her second All-Australian blazer, named on the full back position. McDonald achieved selection in Champion Data's 2021 AFLW All-Star stats team, after leading the league for average intercept possessions in the 2021 AFL Women's season, totalling 8.3 a game.
Ashleigh Guest is a retired Australian rules footballer who played for Greater Western Sydney, Melbourne, and the Western Bulldogs in the AFL Women's (AFLW). Guest was drafted by the Greater Western Sydney Giants with their second selection and sixteenth overall in the 2016 AFL Women's draft. She made her debut in the thirty-six point loss to Adelaide at Thebarton Oval in the opening round of the 2017 season. She played every match in her debut season to finish with seven games. She was traded to the Melbourne Football Club at the conclusion of the 2017 season.
Tyla Hanks is an Australian rules footballer playing for Melbourne in the AFL Women's (AFLW). An inside midfielder, she played junior football in the TAC Cup Girls and VFL Women's, and competed at four AFL Women's Under 18 Championships. Hanks was recruited by Melbourne with pick 6 in the 2018 AFLW draft and debuted in the opening round of the 2019 season.
The 2019 season was Geelong Football Club's first in the AFL Women's (AFLW) competition. Geelong joined the league as an expansion club alongside North Melbourne, having initially been denied entry into the competition's first season in 2017. Paul Hood was the club's inaugural senior coach, and Melissa Hickey was appointed club captain.
