Rick T. Goodale (born March 26, 1970) is an American professional stock car racing driver and retired police sergeant who currently competes part-time in the ARCA Menards Series, driving the No. 31 Toyota for Rise Motorsports.
In 2024, it was revealed that Goodale would make his debut in the ARCA Menards Series West at the double-header weekend at Irwindale Speedway, driving the No. 31 Chevrolet for Rise Motorsports. [2] [3] [4] [5] He had previously joined the team in April of the previous year to shoot promotional footage for the race at Dover Motor Speedway before becoming a spotter for the team. [6] In the Thursday race, he set the seventeenth quickest time in the lone practice session, but did not set a qualifying time and finished in nineteenth after failing to take the start of the race. [7] [8] [9] [10] In the Saturday race, Goodale set the slowest time in practice and qualifying, and finished fourteen laps down in sixteenth place. [11] [12] [13]
In 2025, Goodale was originally scheduled to participate in the pre-season test at Daytona International Speedway although he would not run after the team withdrew from the test due to them not being able to prepare their car in time before the test. [14]
Goodale is a retired police officer and public information and communications specialist for the Gastonia, North Carolina police department. [15] [16] [17] [18] In 2023, he was suspended without pay and later fired by the department after social media posts resurfaced of Goodale using the police departments Facebook account to harass a veteran who was arrested in October 2021. [19] [20] [21] [22] He had previously worked for the Montgomery County Department of Police in Montgomery County, Maryland. [23] [24] [25]
