Rivals is Coal Chamber's first release since Dark Days (2002). On March 2, 2015, the first single released from the album was "I.O.U. Nothing". On March 9, 2015, the second single from the album, "Rivals", was released.
Described as groove metal [2] [3] [4] and nu metal, [5] [6] [7] [2] Rivals has been compared to all of the previous Coal Chamber albums, being described as most similar to the band's third album Dark Days . [2] In a 2015 review of the album, 100% Rock magazine wrote that "Coal Chamber have taken the nu metal styling of the early 2000s and modernized the sound for the current day". [2] The album Rivals shows Coal Chamber moving away from their gothic sound. [7]

Iowa is the second studio album by American heavy metal band Slipknot. Produced by the band and Ross Robinson, it was released on August 28, 2001, by Roadrunner Records. The title derives from the band's home state, Iowa, which members have stated is one of their greatest sources of inspiration. With much anticipation for the album following the success of their 1999 self-titled debut, pressures on the band were high. Their relationships with each other suffered and this was later described as the darkest time of their career. It was also the first full album to feature guitarist Jim Root after only appearing on one song from their previous album. Despite troubles within the band and with Iowa's development, Slipknot promoted it for almost a year.
Lateralus is the third studio album by American rock band Tool. It was released on May 15, 2001, through Volcano Entertainment. The album was recorded at Cello Studios in Hollywood and The Hook, Big Empty Space, and The Lodge, in North Hollywood, between October 2000 and January 2001. David Bottrill, who had produced the band's two previous releases Ænima and Salival, produced the album along with the band, and became the last Tool album produced by Bottrill to date. On August 23, 2005, Lateralus was released as a limited edition two-picture-disc vinyl LP in a holographic gatefold package.
Coal Chamber is an American nu metal band formed by Dez Fafara and Meegs Rascón in Los Angeles in 1992, initially under the name She's in Pain. The original lineup also consisted of bassist Rayna Foss and drummer Jon Tor. Mike Cox replaced Tor on drums shortly afterwards, and thus the Coal Chamber lineup was complete. After signing to Roadrunner Records, they released their debut album, Coal Chamber, in 1997.
