Riverdale is an unincorporated community in western Christian County in southern Missouri. [1] The community lies on Finley Creek about four miles southwest of Ozark and two miles east of the Christian - Stone county line. U. S. Route 160 is about one-half mile southwest of the site. [2] The Finley is dammed at Riverdale.

Finley Creek is a stream in the Ozarks of southern Missouri. The headwaters of the Finley are in Webster County southeast of Seymour. The stream flows west-southwest into Christian County, through Ozark and into the northeast corner of Stone County to its confluence with the James River at the old townsite of Jamesville. The Finley is bridged by Missouri Route 125 at Linden, Missouri Route 14 and US Route 65 in Ozark, and US Route 160 southwest of the old Riverdale dam.

History

The site was chosen for a water mill site by a Benjamin H. Hooten in about 1840. This was followed by numerous others leading in the construction of a three-story mill building in the early 1890s. By 1896 Riverdale had a general store and post office. In the early 1900s the current dam was constructed and an iron truss bridge crossed the waterway. The mill burned in 1926 and was not rebuilt, ending the era of flour production. [3]

There used to be a trout farm at the head where the spring is. It passes through Carthage, before crossing into Cherokee County, Kansas, where it widens considerably. It flows past the east sides of Riverton and Baxter Springs before emptying into the Grand Lake o' the Cherokees in Ottawa County, Oklahoma.

Olga is an unincorporated community in the southwest corner of Webster County, in the Ozarks of southern Missouri. Olga is located on Missouri Route Z about 5 miles northwest of Dogwood in northwest Douglas County. Finley Creek is just north of the community.

Pedelo Creek is a stream in Webster and Christian counties in the Ozarks of southern Missouri. It is a tributary of Finley Creek. The stream headwaters are in the southwestern corner of Webster County west of the community of Zenar. The stream flows west and then southwest into northern Christian County gaining the waters of Olie Lasley Spring then turns to the south and crosses under Missouri Route U. Its confluence with the Finley about three miles east of Linden.
