The Rivers State Economic Advisory Council (RSEAC) was established on 3 October 2007 to serve as a "policy think-tank" of the Rivers State government. [1] Its main function is to advise the government on important policy issues, particularly those relating to the economic development of the state. At present, the council is composed of 40 members and is headquartered at Fleet House, Port Harcourt. [2]
Rivers State, also known simply as Rivers, is one of the 36 states of Nigeria. According to census data released in 2006, the state has a population of 5,198,716, making it the sixth-most populous state in the country. Its capital and largest city, Port Harcourt, is economically significant as the centre of Nigeria's oil industry.
