Nigeria, officially the Federal Republic of Nigeria, is a sovereign country in West Africa bordering Niger in the north, Chad in the northeast, Cameroon in the east, and Benin in the west. Its southern coast is on the Gulf of Guinea in the Atlantic Ocean. It is a federal republic comprising 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, where the capital, Abuja, is located. Lagos is the most populous city in the country and the African continent, as well as one of the largest metropolitan areas in the world.

The Government of Rivers State consists of elected representatives and appointed officials responsible for the government of Rivers State, Nigeria. Rivers State has a population of about 5 million people, and is one of the 36 states that make up the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The state government is composed of the executive, legislative, and judicial branches, whose powers are vested by the Constitution in the House of Assembly, the Governor and the High Court. The judiciary operates independently of the executive and the legislature. At the local level, elected officials are in charge of local government areas.

The Rivers State Ministry of Water Resources and Rural Development (RSMWRRD) is a government ministry of Rivers State, Nigeria entrusted with the management of water resources and promotion of socio-economic development of rural areas in the state. According to its website, the ministry's mission is "to develop and manage sustainable water for people in line with the MDG goal of 100L per day per person for food, and for industry in Rivers State."
The Rivers State Civil Service Commission is a statutorily constituted executive body authorized to oversee the development and administration of the state's civil service system. It also has power to make appointments, exercise disciplinary control and remove persons holding or acting in offices within the civil service. The Commission is headed by a Chairman, who is appointed by the Governor with the consent of the State House of Assembly.
The Rivers State Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation Agency is a government body responsible for the supervision and maintenance of road infrastructure in Rivers State, Nigeria. It is headquartered in Port Harcourt and has operational offices in all the state's senatorial districts. It has a nine-member board to manage its affairs. The agency was established pursuant to the Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation Agency Law No. 3 of 2008.
The Rivers State Agricultural Development Programme is a government parastatal within the Ministry of Agriculture. It was established under the Law on the Agricultural Development Programme of Rivers State 1988. Its functions include formulating and implementing programmes relating to Agriculture as well as providing extension services to farmers in both rural and urban areas of the state.
The Rivers State Housing and Property Development Authority (RSHPDA) is a government agency that has the task of preservation and delivery of affordable housing in Rivers State. It was established under the Housing and Property Development Authority Law No.14 of 1985. Its main goal is to reduce homelessness. It also manages all government-owned housing estates. As of December 2013, the agency's General Manager and Chief Executive Officer is Iyerefa Cookey-Gam.
The Rivers State Senior Secondary Schools Board is an agency of the government of Rivers State responsible for the development and management of the state's secondary education system. It is headquartered in Port Harcourt. Its formation was authorized by the Senior Secondary Schools Board Law No.5 of 2012.

National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency is an environmental agency of the Federal Government of Nigeria that was established by law in 2007 to "ensure a cleaner and healthier environment for Nigerians". The agency functions as a parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Environment and is headed by a Director General who is also the chief executive officer. NESREA has recorded several achievements in the area of environmental compliance monitoring and enforcement since its establishment, including the enactment of several regulations pertaining to environmental protection, monitoring environmental compliance and enforcement actions.
