Road 44 is a major road in Iran linking Tehran and Mashhad. This road is mostly an Expressway and is a part of the Asian Highway 1 route. [1] This road is one of the most important and strategic main roads of the country since it connects the traffic of the north-eastern provinces of the country to the central provinces and the capital, Tehran.

The Islamic Republic of Iran Railways is the national state-owned railway system of Iran. The Raja Passenger Train Company is an associate of the IR, and manages its passenger trains. The Railway Transportation Company is an associate of the IR, which manages its freight transport. The Ministry of Roads & Urban Development is the state agency that oversees the IRIR. Some 33 million tonnes of goods and 29 million passengers are transported annually by the rail transportation network, accounting for 9 percent and 11 percent of all transportation in Iran, respectively (2011).

Payam Toos Khorasan Football Club is an Iranian football club based in Mashhad, Razavi Khorasan. They compete in the 2nd Division. The club is more commonly known as Payam Mashhad when it was based in Mashhad from 1976 to May 2011. The club was moved to Nishapur from May to November 2011, however due to lack of support in Nishapur, the club moved back to Mashhad. In April 2013 Ali Sheykh Eslami bought Payam Imam Reza Football Club and renamed the club "Payam Vahdat Khorasan Football Club". The re-founded club, Payam Khorasan F.C., was formed in July 2021, taking its name from the year of foundation of the predecessor club and securing a place in the 2020-21 2nd Division. Two trains collided on the main line in Semnan Province between Semnan and Damghan, Iran, on 25 November 2016, resulting in 49 deaths and 103 injuries. There were reported difficulties with the rescue operation due to the incident's remote location 4 km from the nearest station, Haft-Khan, and because only one helicopter could reach the scene immediately to join the rescue operation. It was the deadliest rail disaster in Iran since the Nishapur train disaster in 2004.

Binalood or Binalud (Persian:بینالود), along with Golbahar, is one of the two planned cities of Razavi Khorasan province of Iran. It has an area of about 3,300 hectares, of which 1,100 hectares are residential. The city of Binalood is situated near the south-eastern foot of Binalud Mountain Range. The city is located 66.5 kilometres (41.3 mi) away from the city of Nishapur, the third largest city of the Eastern Provinces of Iran and 66 kilometres (41 mi) away from Mashhad, the second largest city of the country.
