Robert Earl Vaughn (born July 7, 1987) is an American baseball coach and former catcher. He is the current head baseball coach at Alabama. He previously served as head coach at Maryland from 2018 to 2023. [1] He played college baseball at Kansas State University from 2006 to 2009 for coach Brad Hill before pursuing a professional career from 2009 to 2010.

Coaching career

On June 22, 2017, Vaughn was named head coach for Maryland. [2] In July 2021, he signed a five-year contract extension with Maryland. [3] During the 2022 NCAA Division I baseball season, Vaughn led Maryland to a 44–10 record, the program’s best regular season in program history. He was subsequently named the Big Ten Coach of the Year. [4] During the 2023 NCAA Division I baseball season, he led Maryland to a 42–19 record, the regular season and Big Ten tournament championship, their first tournament championship in program history. He was subsequently named the Big Ten Coach of the Year for the second consecutive year. [5]

On June 12, 2023, he was named head coach for Alabama. [6]

The Maryland Terrapins baseball team is the varsity intercollegiate baseball program of University of Maryland, College Park in College Park, Maryland, United States. The program's first season was in 1893, and it has been a member of the NCAA Division I Big Ten Conference since the start of the 2015 season. Its home venue is Shipley Field at Bob "Turtle" Smith Stadium, located on Maryland's campus. Matt Swope is the current head coach. The program has appeared in six NCAA tournaments. It has won one conference tournament championship and five regular season conference titles. As of the start of the 2021 Major League Baseball season, 38 former Terrapins have appeared in Major League Baseball.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers softball team represents the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in the Big Ten Conference of NCAA Division I. The program was founded in 1976 as a club sport and became an officially sanctioned varsity sport the next year. NU plays its home games at Bowlin Stadium, constructed in 2001 as part of the Haymarket Park complex. Nebraska has made twenty-five appearances in the NCAA Division I softball tournament, with seven Women's College World Series berths. The team has been coached by Rhonda Revelle since 1993.

Amid an otherwise undistinguished decade, the Missouri Tigers baseball team won the Big 12 Conference tournament in 2012. The team moved from the Big 12 Conference to the Eastern division of the Southeastern Conference in 2013. The Tigers struggled the first two seasons after the change of Conference, then improved to a limited extent. As of 2018 their best performance during the decade in a Conference league was in 2015 and their best overall performance was in 2018. Tim Jamieson retired as head coach in 2016 after 22 years, to be replaced by Steve Bieser.

Rob Sheppard is an American college baseball coach who has been the head coach at Seton Hall since the start of the 2004 season. Sheppard was also the Pirates' interim head coach in 2001.
