Oakland County is a county in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is part of the metropolitan Detroit area, located northwest of the city. As of the 2020 Census, its population was 1,274,395, making it the second-most populous county in Michigan, behind neighboring Wayne County. It is the largest county in the United States without a city of 100,000 residents. The county seat is Pontiac. The county was founded in 1819 and organized in 1820.

Before incorporating as a city in 1983, the area was part of the now-defunct Pontiac Township. The city is a northern suburb of Metro Detroit and is around 12 miles (19 km) north of the city of Detroit.

She represented the 8th district from 2019 to 2023, before redistricting. A member of the Democratic Party, she previously served as a Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) analyst and Department of Defense official. Her district is based in Lansing, and stretches into the outer northern and western suburbs of Detroit. She chairs the Subcommittee on Intelligence and Counterterrorism in the House Committee on Homeland Security.
Haley Maria Stevens is an American politician serving as the U.S. representative from Michigan's 11th congressional district since 2019. A member of the Democratic Party, Stevens is the member–elect for the redrawn 11th district in the 2022 election, having defeated 9th district incumbent Andy Levin in the primary and Republican nominee Mark Ambrose in the general election. Her district includes many of Detroit's northern and western suburbs, including Rochester Hills, Auburn Hills, Troy, Royal Oak, Bloomfield Hills, Birmingham, West Bloomfield, Farmington, Livonia, Canton, Novi, and Northville.
