In June 2020 Sharma appeared in court charged with assaulting his wife. He was released on bail. [4] [5] [6]
Sharma was not included on his party's list for the 2022 general election. [7]

Tabbara plead guilty for his crimes & was convicted, though he sat as an independent member for the remainder of the 43rd Canadian Parliament preceding his conviction. He did not seek re-election in the 2021 Canada federal election.
