Rollo & King was a Danish group, formed by Søren Poppe and Stefan Nielsen, who represented Denmark in the Eurovision Song Contest 2001. The two men named themselves after two dog names. They topped the charts with their first album Midt i en løbetid which stayed in the charts for 13 weeks in 2000–2001.

Before Søren Poppe got famous with the band, he was a teacher in a school in Valby, in Copenhagen teaching music and mathematics.

Eurovision

Danmarks Radio invited them to enter the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix in 2001. They won with their song Der står et billede af dig på mit bord (literal translation, "There's a picture of you on my desk"). Together with female singer, Signe Svendsen, who had joined the group, they performed the song (translated into English as "Never Ever Let You Go") at the Eurovision Song Contest 2001 and received 177 points ranked second out of 23 entries.

The Eurovision Song Contest 1964 was the 9th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Copenhagen, Denmark, following the country's victory at the 1963 contest with the song "Dansevise" by Grethe & Jørgen Ingmann. Tommy Seebach, born Tommy Seebach Mortensen in Copenhagen, Denmark, was a popular Danish singer, composer, organist, pianist and producer. He is best known as front man of Sir Henry and his Butlers and for numerous contributions to the Danish qualifier for the Eurovision Song Contest, the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, which he won three times. He was the father of songwriter/producer Nicolai Seebach and singer/songwriter/producer Rasmus Seebach.

Denmark was represented by Sidsel Ben Semmane in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with the song "Twist of Love", written and composed by Niels Drevsholt. Sidsel had a good presentation of her song which is a mix of elements from country and rock 'n' roll.

Denmark has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 50 times, making its first appearance in 1957. Having competed in ten consecutive contests until 1966, Denmark was absent for eleven consecutive contests from 1967 to 1977. Since 1978, it has been absent from only four contests. Denmark has won the contest three times: in 1963, 2000 and 2013. The Danish national selection for the contest is the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix.

Denmark participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 with the song "The Way You Are", written by Remee and Chief 1. The song was performed by the band Anti Social Media. In February 2015, Danish broadcaster DR organised the national final Melodi Grand Prix 2015 in order to select the Danish entry for the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna, Austria. Anti Social Media and the song "The Way You Are" emerged as the winner following the 50/50 combination of jury voting and televoting. In the first of the Eurovision semi-finals, Denmark failed to qualify to the final, placing thirteenth out of the 16 participating countries with 33 points.
