Denmark was present at the Eurovision Song Contest 1986, held in Bergen, Norway.
The Danish national final to select their entry, the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, was held on 22 February 1986 at the Danmarks Radio Studios in Copenhagen, and was hosted for the ninth straight time by radio and television host Jørgen de Mylius. Five regional juries across Denmark selected the winning song out of five songs that survived a semifinal round.
The winning entry was "Du er fuld af løgn", performed by Lise Haavik and composed by John Hatting.

Lise Haavik performed eighteenth on the night of the contest, following Sweden and preceding Finland. At the close of the voting the song had received 77 points, placing 6th in a field of 20 competing countries. [1] This high placing was the start of five top-ten finishes for Denmark in the Contest.

"Sku' du spørg' fra no'en?" was chosen as the Danish entry at the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix on 9 March. This was the second consecutive Eurovision appearance for Kirsten & Søren.
Iceland participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2001 with the song "Angel" written by Einar Bárðarson and Magnús Þór Sigmundsson. The song was performed by the duo Two Tricky. The Icelandic entry for the 2001 contest in Copenhagen, Denmark was selected through the national final Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins 2001, organised by the Icelandic broadcaster Ríkisútvarpið (RÚV). Eight songs competed in the selection which was held on 17 February 2001. "Birta" performed by Kristján Gíslason and Gunnar Ólason emerged as the winner exclusively through public televoting. The song was later translated from Icelandic to English for the Eurovision Song Contest and was titled "Angel", while the duo was renamed as Two Tricky.
