Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, also known as Melodi Grand Prix or simply DMGP, is an annual music competition organised by the Danish public broadcaster Danmarks Radio (DR) since 1957, which determines the country's representative for the Eurovision Song Contest. The festival has produced three Eurovision winners and fourteen top-five placings.
Denmark has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 51 times, making its first appearance in 1957. Having competed in ten consecutive contests until 1966, Denmark was absent for eleven consecutive contests from 1967 to 1977. Since 1978, it has been absent from only four contests. Denmark has won the contest three times: in 1963, 2000 and 2013. The Danish national selection for the contest is the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix.
Natalia Gordienko is a Moldovan singer and dancer. Alongside Arsenium and Connect-R, she represented Moldova in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with the song "Loca" and placed 20th. She was selected to represent Moldova in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 with the song "Prison"; however, the 2020 contest was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, she represented Moldova in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 with the song "Sugar" and placed 13th with 115 points.
Jill Anna Maria Johnson is a Swedish country and pop singer, songwriter and TV-host. She performed in the Melodifestivalen 1998 contest, winning with the song "Kärleken är", and represented Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 1998 with that song, which finished 10th with 53 points. In 2003 she entered Melodifestivalen for the second time with "Crazy in Love", which finished fourth in the final. She also hosted the final of Melodifestivalen 2005. Johnson is today one of the most successful artists in Sweden, with several Gold and Platinum records and since 2014 has hosted her own Swedish TV-show from Nashville, Jills veranda.
Oscar Zia is a Swedish singer, songwriter, and actor. In 2012, he first came to national attention for coming eighth in the Swedish version of X Factor. In 2014, Zia finished as runner-up on the eighth season of Let's Dance, the Swedish version of Dancing with the Stars.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2020 was planned to be the 65th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It would have taken place in Rotterdam, Netherlands, following the country's victory at the 2019 contest with the song "Arcade" by Duncan Laurence. The contest was cancelled on 18 March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, making the first time in the contest's 64-year history that an edition was not held.
"Love Is Forever" is a song by Danish singer Leonora that was Denmark's entry at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv. It is the first multilingual entry from Denmark in Eurovision and also the first Danish entry with Danish lyrics since the removal of the language rule in 1999. It was performed at the second semi-final on 16 May 2019, and qualified for the final, where it placed 12th with 120 points.
Denmark originally planned to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 with the song "Yes" written by Emil Lei, Jimmy Jansson and Linnea Deb. The song was performed by the duo Ben and Tan. The Danish broadcaster DR organised the national final Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2020 in order to select the Danish entry for the 2020 contest in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The national selection consisted of a radio semi-final and a televised final. In the final, the winner was selected over two rounds of voting. The results of the first round were decided upon through the combination of jury voting and public voting while in the second round, the winner was selected solely by public televoting. "Yes" performed by Ben and Tan was the winner after gaining 61% of the public vote.
Switzerland originally planned to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 with the song "Répondez-moi" written by Gjon Muharremaj, Xavier Michel, Alizé Oswald and Jeroen Swinnen. The song was performed by Gjon's Tears, which is the artistic name of singer Gjon Muharremaj who was internally selected by the Swiss broadcaster Swiss Broadcasting Corporation to represent the nation at the 2020 contest in Rotterdam, Netherlands. "Répondez-moi" was presented to the public as the Swiss entry on 4 March 2020.
Hurricane, also known as Hurricane Girls, are a Serbian girl group. The original line-up, formed by Zoran Milinković in November 2017, consisted of three members: Sanja Vučić, Ivana Nikolić and Ksenia Knežević. They are best known for representing Serbia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 in Rotterdam, Netherlands, with the song "Loco Loco". In 2022, the three original members left the group and were replaced by three new members: Jovana Radić, Sara Kourouma and Miona Srećković.

Dolic would have represented Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 held in Rotterdam with the song "Violent Thing" before it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Move" is a gospel-pop song by Swedish music group the Mamas. The song was performed for the first time in Melodifestivalen 2020, where it made it to the final. The song won Melodifestivalen with 137 points and was to represent Sweden in the first semifinal of the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam, before the contest was cancelled in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It peaked at number one on the Swedish singles chart.

It is the first time since 1997 that a song sung entirely in Danish represented the country at Eurovision. The song topped the Danish singles chart, being the first Danish Eurovision entry to do so since "Only Teardrops" in 2013.
"Ya nauchu tebya (I'll Teach You)" (Russian: Я научу тебя) is a song by Belarusian band Galasy ZMesta. The song was selected by the Belarusian national broadcaster BTRC to represent Belarus in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, but was rejected by the competition's organisers for having content which they believed was too political in nature. The music video was also taken down from the official Eurovision site.
