The original Rome and Watertown Railroad terminated in Cape Vincent, NY on the St. Lawrence River. A branch of the Rome, Watertown and Ogdensburg Railroad, commonly known as "The Hojack Line", operated along the south shore of Lake Ontario, from Oswego, New York to Niagara Falls, New York.

The crossing is associated with the Seaway International Bridge, which crosses the two channels on each side of Cornwall Island, which is located on the St. Lawrence River. The bridge is 4.7 km (2.9 mi) in length.
The New York and Ottawa Railway was a railway connecting Tupper Lake in northeastern New York to Ottawa, Ontario, via Ramsayville, Russell, Embrun, Finch and Cornwall. It became part of the New York Central Railroad system in 1913, although it was under the larger company's possession since the end of 1904. It had started-out as the Northern Adirondack Railroad and evolved into the Northern New York Railroad, the New York and Ottawa Railroad, and was last known as the New York and Ottawa Railway before being merged into the New York Central and Hudson River Railroad. The Massena Terminal Railroad is a Class III terminal railroad operating in the U.S. state of New York. It operates over 4 miles (6.4 km) of track from the CSX Transportation yard in Massena north to the Alcoa plant, the railroad's only customer. It was built in the early 20th century, beginning operations in 1900. In 2005, the railroad was purchased by holding company RailAmerica. Shortline holding company Genesee & Wyoming acquired the Massena Terminal Railroad in 2012 as part of its purchase of RailAmerica. The railroad's traffic comes mainly from aluminum and petroleum products. The MTR hauled around 4,300 carloads in 2008.
Lyon Mountain Correctional Facility is a former prison in New York in the United States. The prison is located in the western part of the Town of Dannemora in Clinton County, New York, near the community of Lyon Mountain. The facility closed on January 31, 2011.
New York State Route 37 (NY 37) is a state highway in the North Country of New York in the United States, extending for 127.40 miles (205.03 km) on a west–east axis. The western terminus of the route is at an intersection with U.S. Route 11 (US 11) in Pamelia, Jefferson County. Its eastern terminus is at a junction with US 11, NY 11B, and NY 30 in Malone, Franklin County. In between the termini, NY 37 passes through Ogdensburg and Massena. It is a two-lane, nondivided, full access roadway for most of its entire length, except for portions between Massena and western Franklin County, where the route widens to a four-lane divided highway.

Massena Castings Plant was a General Motors aluminium casting foundry located in Massena, New York. The plant utilized the die casting and lost-foam casting processes, operating from 1959 to May 2009. It was originally built to cast engine blocks and cylinder heads for the Chevrolet Turbo-Air 6 engine used in the Chevrolet Corvair from 1960 until 1969. Aluminum parts included the block, heads, flywheel housing, crankcase cover, clutch housing, and pistons. 92 lb (41.7 kg) of aluminum was used in each engine.

The Bertrand H. Snell Lock is situated on the St Lawrence River leg of the St Lawrence Seaway and is one of the seven canal locks found along the length of the seaway. The lock has a 45 ft (14 m) lift for ships traveling upstream. It is situated near Massena, New York along with one of the other locks.
