Rotiboy is a Malaysian bakery chain based in Kuala Lumpur owned by Rotiboy Bakeshoppe Sdn Bhd. The company has more than 100 outlets in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, South Korea, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, as well planning to enter China market. [2]
The company was founded in April 1998 in Bukit Mertajam, Penang, [3] [4] with the name generated by accident when the founder's brother called his nephew, "naughty-boy" which sounds like "Rotiboy". [3] In 2002, the company migrated to Wisma Central, Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur. Rotiboy successfully expanded in Klang Valley, [3] and in 2022, Rotiboy opened up its first franchise in East Malaysia in Kuching, [5] Sarawak, followed by other cities in the region such as Sibu, Bintulu and Miri. In May 2004, Rotiboy International Pte Ltd was established in Singapore. Between 2004 and 2007, Rotiboy has expanded its operations to Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and South Korea. [3] In 2012, Rotiboy opens its stores in United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. [3]
Sarawak is a state of Malaysia. Miri is a coastal city in north-eastern Sarawak, Malaysia, located near the border of Brunei, on the island of Borneo. The city covers an area of 997.43 square kilometres (385.11 sq mi), located 798 kilometres (496 mi) northeast of Kuching and 329 kilometres (204 mi) southwest of Kota Kinabalu. Miri is the second largest city in Sarawak, with a population of 356,900 as of 2020. The city is also the capital of Miri District, Miri Division.
Abang Openg bin Abang Sapiee was a Malaysian politician who served as the first Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sarawak from September 1963 to his death in March 1969. He assumed the newly established post following Sarawak's independence from Great Britain and the formation of Malaysia in 1963. Johor was supposed to host the 20th edition of the Games in July 2020, but were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with the 20th edition took over by the National Sports Council (NSC) in September 2022. This will be Sarawak's third time to host the Sukma Games since its first time in 1990, and second time in 2016.
